What next after tff

Farming forums have been around in one form or another for a good while now, first we had newsnet, then Farmers Weekly Forums, a bit of agmachineryforum after the FWi chaos, until Blue got his act together and launched British Farmimg Forum.
That started off well but after eventually one technical failure too far led to its demise and TFF appeared out of thin air.

TFF seems to be going OK but is stagnating a bit recently. More and more farmers are using mobiles to go online and desktops are a thing of the past. TFF doesn't seem to have much of a plan when it comes to mobile and the current app offering is pretty rubbish.

Facebook has thousands of farming discussion groups and this seems to be where all the next generation are at the moment. Twitter is also popular amongst farmers.

So what does everyone reckon the next incarnation of TFF will be?

Good question I've felt it isn't the same place lately but my life and priorities have majorly changed(for the better!) and giving thought to login off and not bothering.

I've regualar threads I subscribe to but but struggle to find the time or enthusiasm to bother reading even my favourite T@W is often multiple days behind.

That said this forum has been a great help especially with pm's I'm in no way a lone worker nor live on my own but being quite quiet and shy find it easier to type and have actually made friends on here.

I hope I'm not included in this category

Like anything in life this forum is what you make of it.

I can remember when it was possible to keep abreast of almost every thread. :oldman:

Then more people join and things get busier and better and you need to pick and choose a bit on the areas you are most interested in. Yes one or two people can get a bit pugnacious and opinionated but it is easy to ignore them and concentrate on the interesting people.

I've just checked and since I joined the forum I've had 162 conversations. Most of them are short question and answer ones, some are slightly longer and often seem to include @roscoe erf :banghead:.

One has grown and includes several people engaged in light-hearted chat and banter. The only difference over the open forum is that it is not public and you can mention things that you may not always want the world and his wife reading about. I'm sure the moderators would soon suss if a conversation was being used to form a clique and orchestrate bullying.

What ever your interests are it's very likely that there is a kindred spirit on here. Get posting and don't ignore Off Topic.

your always trying to sell me things #essexwideboy#

As there are so many sections it is impossible to follow them all and have a job at the same time
I have noticed that some threads do get a lot of threads quickly which makes it hard to keep up so don't bother to post because the point may have been made there are only so many useful points that can be made on any one subject

When a new forum gets going a lot of the early posts repeat lost posts from a previous forum
On her if you put a query up and it has been discussed before some one will link to it this reduce new discussions

I still think it's a mistake that TFF doesn't seem to be improving the mobile app, I accept that the site works ok on mobile but it definitely could be easier to upload pictures / videos on to here from mobiles. But I guess it's mega money to do something yourself, I guess that's why Twitter / Facebook took on so much venture funding to get where they are now.

Don't do that. Take a breather by all means, but I for one, enjoy your work pictures. And your one of the more sensible posters(y)

All i do is click on new posts a few times a day. See whats occuring, maybe make a comment and then carry on with my day.

Sometimes i need some info so appreciate that. Sometimes i feel strongly about an issue and then it does tie up stuff but so what its the same as reading anything.

I still think using TFF helps you get to the nub of a matter pretty quickly. Using the new post tag as a bookmark makes it super quick to see whats going on.

Twitter is ok but often find its agenda driven or forwards of fowards etc. Or even people I like telling me their opinion of something im not interested in ie Do I really care about what Brian Moore thinks of Michael Sheen?
