of course they are members  ......takes a lot of confidence to post on any forum and lets face it it can be a 'meat grinder' sometimes and thats not everyone's idea of 'entertainment'

i'm also in favour of ppl being to able to view as guests

it's true of all forums....a small % produce the vast majority of posts
Yes, real pattern of forum traffic, possibly largely due to personality types?

You'll get the advocates and the grizzlers and "entitled to bear arms" members on all forums at platfoms, even in real life

The sense of community on TFF really sets it apart I think, Spin? Don't you?

It amazes me, BFF were quite rigorous with their moderation back in the day yet BFF on Facebook seems like a free for all.

Other thing that surprises me is that BFF on Facebook seems to have droves of followers yet the forum last time I looked was hardly ticking over.
On the other hand TFF is bustling yet I see very little from TFF on Facebook and what I do see hardly gets any reaction.
It took 3 years for my BFF account to be activated by which time it'd virtually ceased running. :banghead:

The BFF FB group seems to have a small %age of decent folk and a majority of arrogant idiots who find dangerous or illegal things funny (tractors rolling over on public roads, Spreading slurry on waterlogged sloping land, insulting the public, blocking footpaths, randomly killing badgers etc).

You can't post on the TFF Facebook page . I told Clive , he missed a free ticket to encourage people over to the main page . But no he would not have it. Its like a taxi that no one can use driving around aimlessly, or a clone of the NFU page[emoji23]

Don't ever look at the British Farming Forum FB pages then. I'm regularly ashamed of what my fellow farmers post on there for the public to read!

was a chap who posted the other day looking for a pat on the back for not shooting a pen of Holstein bull calves as he had been shut down for 3 years solid so couldn’t sell them.

it got over a thousand likes and pretty sure the chap was being lined up for a knighthood, anyone who mentioned sexed semen got shot down for ‘being negative’ I deleted myself from bff fb page after that.

I don’t know what %age of farmers are TFF members.
I can tell you that organisations such as the Cereals Event take TFF very seriously indeed.
Dealers, machinery manufacturers and the trade too. Not to mention the likes of Red Tractor and NFU.

I’ve not met many farmers who don’t know about TFF. A lot keep an eye on it but don’t post themselves.
Many, particularly the older generation, because they feel it is a huge step to make to actually raise their heads above the parapet. Perhaps in exactly the same way that I do not feel confident to want to take part in anything Facebook.
It is the very fact that by using TFF, I know I am mixing with other like minded people, sharing our passion for farming and trying to make it better for each other.

I like TFF so much that I have cancelled my FW and when FG rang up the other day to offer the next 10 for a £1 each, I said, no thanks. When they asked why, I told them that as a TFF member I can and have learned far more from the experience of real farmers from TFF.

It is a huge asset to our industry and has seriously influenced my own farming.
Some days when I’m not busy, I spend a great deal of time on TFF. I used to worry that doing so isn’t proper work and that I ought to be doing something else. The truth is that what I learn from TFF is far more productive than being out in the yard for the sake of being out in the yard!

I often think that for those of us who are regular posters, life would be very boring without TFF!

How do farmers discover TFF?
For many, it might be a problem that they are experiencing which Google leads them to TFF for an answer.
This is exactly how I discovered TFF when researching the latest opinions and publications on Dual Stream.
Which is why my aviator is a picture of it winning the IMMA Gold medal in 2015.

I must have been on it 6 months before I actually realised that @Clive was the founder of it?
Well done, you have created something of huge benefit to us all. Long may it continue and thrive.
