They still show all the old manuals on their website, go to operator manuals, then 'archived manuals ' then archived power arm manuals

We used to use 32, as it also says in the manual.
ii took filler filter off under filler cap in the end and was about 4" from top so ok at present i think ,damn good trimmer just a pain to put on and get off without 3 or 4 trolley jacks to get the frame holes to line up .

Livestock farmers and machinery really don't mix
you might be right , but machinery servicing costs will cover buying another machine (its only a pa34 lol ) if it goes wrong , thats why i asked .
i run 4 tractors, a quad plus all associated kit (no contractors) here for 40 years ,inc rebuilt two david brown engines . only ever used proper mechanics maybe half dozen times (clutches etc)) no major disasters .
Mind you if a get a proper price for stock that reflects my hours same as mechanics pay , your welcome to the job

as above ,topping tank up is it just hydraulic oil ? or tractor oil 10 / 30 , btw how do you see level ?
See your based in Somerset speak to ford fuels they do or used to supply the oil to the McConnell factory so they will supply you with the correct oil...

Does anyone use 68 oil in newer hedgecutters?
Sticker on my hyd tank says
0 to 30 degrees 46 oil
above 30 degrees 68 oil.
My Oil supplier recommended to use 68.
46 in mine and it's fine :).but it does say in the manual 68 for hot climates ( as opposed to cool or temperate) and well,....even here in the balmy s.west it is def. Not hot from Sept til march anyway...:sneaky:

Back in the day When we used to trim a lot in july slightly different matter but there werent oil coolers back then either.

Really? I used to stand mine on a stack of pallets and never had any major issues getting it on or off. ( Accept when it first arrived, the dealers left it on the ground so that was quite a challenge getting it on then!)🥴

must be a knack , i store mine on pallets goes on 3pt ok , just getting little holes in frame to line up to take weight off hydraulics , be ok with newer ones as they have a adjustable wheel nut just below where top link fits

When you take it off prop it on a pallet with bits of wood so that when you let it down the top link goes slack. Don't remove the two pins in the lower A frame, just remove at the top link end. Leave that A frame in place like it is, then it's in the right place for reconnecting. Some string will keep it up out of the way.

Erm, great minds as they say. That is exactly what l used to do ( Uncanny isn't it?) Taking the two lower pins out is asking for trouble. The only thing l had to remind myself is to do was remove the top pin holding the right hand pick-up hitch lift rod, stow it away against the back axle then put the pin back again because on my tractor (Renault) if l didn't do that it was impossible to get that top link pin in or out as otherwise the position of the linkage as l was mounting the hedger meant that rod got in the way 😖
