Get rid of rust 1st and plenty of primer thats the answerNot meaning to hijack this thread but don't want to start a new one either but what paint do people use on wheel rims? Going to paint the ones on the 8210 but want something that's hard wearing, seen some rims painted and it doesn't seem to last long, is there heavy duty primer available?
Thanks for that, plenty of coats then?Get rid of rust 1st and plenty of primer thats the answer
A red oxide primer is great all round imo
You can get plenty on, its quick drying, its durable
Yes plenty of coats of red oxide, flat it down n then plenty of coats of silver mistThanks for that, plenty of coats then?

Was the red oxide 2 pac if not thats your problemMe old gaffa got some red oxide from somwhere cheap .Sprayed the 210 Komatsu with it as undercoat looked great I think he 2 pac the top coat but then the 2 pac started coming off in sheets .So do a test panel me thinks first .
Hahahah right im making this up as i go along
2k will be hard but brittle so it will chip and cost alot also
I would say a polyurethane/synthetic will be spot on
Plenty of primer and a few good coats of top coat will do him justice always have good results from vapormatic paint but it can also chip easy
Sparex synthetic is softer ive found
There you go haters of 2k....
Sparex is a softer paintDo you still recommend Sparex as a softer paint that doesn't chip as easily? I've just sprayed my 65 with Vapormatic and it chips way to easily, really quite annoying! or do you have another preference that isn't 2K?
Before I decided to paint my 65 I had someone to paint just the dash, a very experienced person, he used vapormatic, I then painted the rest with sparex paint, now I'm only an amature but I much prefer the finish on the sparexDo you still recommend Sparex as a softer paint that doesn't chip as easily? Yes I agree, the sparex appears a lot softer, I've not seen any issues with chippingThe Vapormatic looks like glass, but chips way to easy, getting tedious now! How does sparex fair with chipping?
