For a ford last summer, dealer price was more but with 0% finance NFU cheaper but no 0% more like 6%, That said it was slighty cheaper all finished to use the nfu deal, definatly cheaper if your paying cash or using a cheaper finance system.
Nfu also gave free metallic and tow bar at the time,

I found the rep lost his keenness when I spoke of full payment, so I went down the finance route to make him hungry for the loan commission, then paid off the loan the day after delivery.

old pickup wasnt px as it was ancient more suited to ebay, Sold very quickly on there
are you not penalised for paying of finance early ?

We've a L200 double cab. It was the "new shape" when we got it, newish second-hand. Great in the snow, and it has been really reliable, considering how it has been (ab)used, just mainly used for short journeys up and down the lane for about a mile, over fields and the occasional longer trip.

It probably isn't the most comfortable vehicle, but if it was the only transport its acceptable. I have towed a horse trailer 70 miles and it was OK. It does a bit of towing, but not a huge amount, but it has been used to carry quite heavy loads. Very willing engine and been more or less trouble free for years.

I suppose all pick-ups are massive (bring back the Subaru) and the new ones will have some sort of reversing camera, but ours is basic, basic and I am always wary about reversing and wonder if I am going to hear a crunch. Probably wouldn't feel anything, would get pushed out of the way if it wasn't solid.

On the subject I got an email from Isuzu the other day. Seems they are preparing to launch the new D-Max in the UK. Shame it doesn’t come with the 3.0litre fitted to the Australian model instead of the 1.9litre post van engine  Might take one for a test drive one day given the chance..

They must have had big stocks of the old model in the UK because the new one has been sold in other countries for a couple of months at least. Or at least it has been launched and manufactured for at least that long. Maybe they had a big slow boat full of old models heading our way late in production? It's announcement here is certainly long overdue.

Having said that, it looks nothing special and is another Isuzu that will have to compete mainly on price and a better dealer network than most.

Dont know why it’s taken so long to launch in uk other than as you say they’ve been trying to shift old stock.

It‘s a while since I was quoted ( 2 years) and I thought the then new model had become expensive and had a better quote on a Ranger from a dealer at Driffield whom I’m told is expensive. New model has more driver assist goodies such as lane departure warning. My old d-max seems to have it anyway in that if I drift the mirror folds back and the hedge rattles down the side window :p

I’m sure my dealer will quote me on a new one though to be fair I’m not bothered as can quite happily run the old 2.5 model for some years yet. New model will have the 1.9 of which I’m not a big fan.

The new 1.9 v the 2.8 hilux and the 210 hp ranger. Such a shame they didn't bring the 3.0l. They get a big write up in Australia who know their pickups. I really like the look of the new dmax.

Extended service int by 2k miles ,so gave them an excuse to walk away, but its their loss as in lost sales

The factory service intervals are well known to be too long and the timing chains weak anyhow. Half the suggested intervals is a good starting point where useage is termed severe duty- which farm work most certainly is.

It is a shame and they reckon the 3.0L is pretty bullet proof which the 1.9 or the 2.5 may not be so much. My local dealer sells the 1.9 with a remap as an option. Ups the hp and torque. I called in for a new door mirror some time back and whilst I waited they gave me the keys to one that had been remapped. Wasn’t overly sure I noticed the difference!

I see the new model now comes with a rear diff lock. I remember back in the day going on an experience day and asking why the d-max didn’t even have one as an option. They told me that it wasn’t required as the traction control was far better. I’ve always thought the so called traction control is worse than useless towing a trailer off road. So a step in the right direction. Comes back to same thing for me which is the 1.9 engine and more importantly what it would cost to swap. Not that I have much interest in changing my pickup.

Just priced, auto invincible hilux limited ranger and new dmax dl20 and dl40 and the dmax is the dearest so far.

I suspected as much. New model will be dearer than the dmax it replaces and being new to the market won’t be much incentive to discount. Not that I have any idea

From my perspective the only time I see a D max is when I pass one uphill, usually when we have the trailer on!

they always seem to get very small in the rear view mirror very quickly😂😂

I'm not sure that Australia are as strict on emissions as over here which is why they get different engine options. I know a lad who emigrated there a few years ago who worked for a vw/audi independent repairer here and got a job in a vw dealership over there. The vw's in oz are what we had a couple of years ago tech wise so they were getting cars in with faults they had never seen and he knew exactly what it was as he'd seen them 2/3 years ago.

I..e nothing LR with the pre-19 four pot ingenium then lol!
Nothing with that engine transverse mounted. There is no way on Earth that I would buy or run one of those poorly designed heaps. Lengthways mounted and post Pivi-Pro redesign, no issue other than as usual the terrible company selling 'premium' cars has left its customers right in the shït with those faulty heaps of dog poo.
