I got an email to say the latest copy of 4x4 Magazine is available and that they had an early test drive of the new d-max. I bought a digital version of the mag to have a read . On the previous pages they had a first drive of new Toyota Invincible X with new 2.8 engine - which they seemed to like. So the d-max being tested was in hideous beige with brown leather interior which made it look very plain. If the brown leather was your thing then it won’t be available in UK. It was an auto with the 1.9 which they said was a bit more refined than previous model but kicking it down did not unearth any get up and go - no change there then. Full pricing yet to be announced but Isuzu said £28,929 for the DL40 and £30,429 for the top of range V-Cross. If you want auto then add £1500 and vat to be added of course. I’ve no idea how that would compare to a new Ranger or Hi-Lux but of the two reviewed my money would go to Toyota - if I had any 😭

Can't see the point when you only have to ring a main Toyota dealer
and they will beat that anyway.

Since people are happy to pay an NFU membership of £400 a year to get access to a discount, it seems some would find them useful. Although I agree - you can nearly always get the same deals by being hard-nosed in the negotiation.

Where are you getting the £400 from ?Thought it was on an acreage charge.

Somebody quoted that number above. From memory my NFU membership was about £270, but that was 7 years ago. I've actually got no idea how much a base farmer and grower membership is now I have sold my farm.

One thing with nfu type discounts, im pretty sure you have to report selling the vehicle within the first 12 mths so they can claimback some of the discount,
I imagine this is to prevent people selling the vehicle on for profit/buying for someone else.
They arnt going to know unless you over do it

It will be interesting to see how different agricultural businesses and even manufactures adopt Farmdeals ? As we grow in size the deals should in theory get better. Not everyone is great at negotiating, there is an art to it. If we can act on behalf of those members, then that has to be of benefit to them. Also we are all different and have prefered brands which has to be taken into consideration.

Too much!!

But do people really join the NFU to get discount? I thought they joined for the monthly magazine

Both a Ford dealer and an Isuzu dealer have told me in the past that the NFU discount (and others) can probably be haggled off anyway. I suppose it depends on how keen they are for a sale.

2.8l auto, more a manual fan but might try the auto as it gets the full torque.

I used to be then I bought an auto and don’t suppose I’ll go back.

On the subject of auto gearbox’s Isuzu want £1500 for an auto box. The Isuzu I run cost me an extra £1000. It’s a 5 speed box and the newer box is 6 speed. Does it really cost half as much again - though factor in vehicle inflation and an upgraded box then it maybe does?

They copied me on colour choices😂😂

I know. They are so always looking over the hedge..

There are few sources for discounts on pickups etc.
Our machinery ring Ringlink Scotland does it, as well as discounts on Case tractors and machinery. ANM marts group were doing good discounts too.
Im not a new pickup purchaser so not up to speed on how much % is achievable.
Plenty options to gain discounts without having to join up to NFU
