There are few sources for discounts on pickups etc.
Our machinery ring Ringlink Scotland does it, as well as discounts on Case tractors and machinery. ANM marts group were doing good discounts too.
Im not a new pickup purchaser so not up to speed on how much % is achievable.
Plenty options to gain discounts without having to join up to NFU

I am for some reason an NFU member (for now) and although I don’t buy vehicles very often I’ve never used the NFU discount at Isuzu as by the time we’ve haggled I’ve got more off. That said the NFU discount did not seem much at Isuzu at the time.

I usually say what I’m prepared to pay then walk away to let them think about it. Funnily I never hear from them again

Has anyone purchased a L200 lately, as mine is due for a change ?

Would be great to have a price tracker on pick ups................. so if anyone wants to add a price and spec of a recently purchased truck, feel free.

I know that Mitsubishi are pulling out sometime but are still selling pickups as passed a few new shapes on the road last couple of days however none pulling cattle trailers

And now I see Nissan are pulling out too once the latest navara has had its time in 2022, no new model been sold in UK. So that leaves you with Hilux, Ranger or Isuzu’s offering.

Nissan killed itself off with their shitty chassis although to be fair they did try to make it good with their customers. Their reputation for quality products was ruined. It's still rather surprising that their sales across Europe has collapsed to such an extent and that the Renault version has flopped. Not at all surprised that the Mercedes version fell flat as it offered nothing extra for double the purchase price. The pre-production teasers from Mercedes showed much promise and the disappointment at what was eventually offered was palpable. It was obvious that they were taking their potential customers for a ride, metaphorically.

This is a salient warning for the Ineos Grenadier. The market isn't there for anything that doesn't give genuine value for money, apart from the VW and old Defender phenomenon where vehicles seem to gain demand because they have been discontinued. Who would have thought that only 40 trucks a day would be produced of a mainstream pickup truck serving all of Europe. That is dire when I'm sure that the production line is capable of at least 30 trucks per hour. Perhaps Land Rover were wise to dump the commercial utility vehicle sector after all? Is there actually a demand for a premium price utility when a pickup truck will do the job very well at half the price and even so they ain't exactly selling like hot cross buns at Easter.

For what it's worth my view is that part of the problem with Nissan trucks, just as it was with Mercedes [if you ignore the stupid price premium] is the lack of a widespread dealer network. Most of the smaller car dealers are not Navara dealers and, if they bother with Navara at all, they need to buy them from their dedicated truck dealers/distributors. That's where Isuzu beats them hollow. Isuzu have three or four dedicated truck dealers nearer to me than the nearest Nissan dealer, let alone a Nissan Truck and fleet dealer.

Must say that I was looking forward to having the opportunity to see and buy an European variant of the new pickup just released in the USA which looks very impressive and has a Nissan built version of the Mercedes 9 G-Tronic transmission.

Hi all, apologies if covered before. Been towing a 14 ft GE cattle trailer with a LR 110 for teens of yrs. Present 110 is a 15 plate, 68k trouble free miles. I’m told I can sell it at profit so might move it on. Fancy a Hilux but how will they or any of the other mainstream brands handle the trailer up to max weight Of cattle?

Ford Ranger is probably the best pickup of the bunch for that job. And from my experience will knock the 110 landrover into next week as a tow vehicle.

Hilux handles it easy but go for the 2.8
as it's only a few hundred pounds more.
Very solid ride on the road so no scary stories.

Good video on YouTube to watch is that 4wd 24-7 review on all the pickups. A proper test with experts doing heavy towing they weren’t that impressed with the ranger 10 speed for towing.

Is there any Navara in that?

Just picked up my 3rd Amarok. Had L200, Hilux, Navara D40 and D22 previously. All be good trucks but no where near the Amarok, even the 2.0l bi-turbo version.

We’ve also got a 2020 Ranger 2.0l with the 10 speed auto box, which I drove for the first time 120 miles to pickup the latest Amarok. It drove nicely and is without doubt the ‘best of the rest’ but it’s no match for the 260hp v6 Amarok, no where near.

I test drove the new hilux twice. Last time a couple of weeks ago but it’s no match for the Ranger and is miles behind the Amarok, miles behind .....

Didn’t bother with Nissan this time as our last one only left in December and whilst it was totally faultless over 3 years and 50k miles, it’s just no match for either the Ranger or Amarok. Very sluggish and a wallowy ride. It doesn’t seem to know whether it’s a 4x4 or a car.

For the money the VW is the best by miles and better on fuel than the Ranger by a chunk.

I thought the amarok was being discontinued and being replaced by a ranger with a vow badge on it
nick...

It is. ‘70 plate’s’ are the last ones you can get. The new ones coming in 2022 are being made by Ford and VW are making vans for Ford. The dealer I picked this one up from said it’ll mainly be sharing engine and drivetrain so the shape will be different. 3 engines including a V6. They think it’ll be 200hp, 280hp and then a 350hp matched to the Ford 10 speed in the new rangers.

I had a drive of the new model D-Max last week. It was the V-Cross with same 1.9 as previous model. It was more car like to drive and rode (empty) better than my 2.5 not being half as choppy. Cabin and seats were much improved. Steering very light but firms up once underway. Cabin was quiet and engine was quieter than I remembered though became more vocal when worked. Alloy wheels an acquired taste! Didnt really talk money and was led to believe it could be September delivery if I ordered today. On the road or list price wrong end of 34K for V-Cross but depends how much room they have on that as to what the final agreement. Wasn’t optimistic of a large discount. The model I drove had low profile roof bars and plastic trim over wheel arches similar to new Hilux Invincible X and this was part of a pack that would also include an electric roll top on the bed. This pack came at extra 5K!! The six speed auto did a reasonable job of hiding the lack of torque of the 1.9 diesel Isuzu engine. The first thing I noticed was a lack of urge from the engine department in comparison to my Isuzu 2.5. I fear it will feel even more wanting against a Ranger or Amarok. Apart from I thought it too expensive and underpowered, towing would be a large concern. I think the 1.9 will have to work damned hard with loaded trailer towing up hills.

I don’t get the dmax thing . But I also don’t pay the bill to buy them. They are just so far behind everything else . 1.9 is no engine to put in a pickup. . The new vw amarok will be a joint venture with Ford not a Ford ranger with vw badge! Look at the Nissan / merc collaboration. Yes it was short lived but the merc got the v6 option and niaaab only got the 4 pot
