Currently have/had a grizzly 450 that we have had for years never put a foot wrong, but it doesn't get hard hard work, we have some relatively steep banks for sheep grazing so it's mainly used just for Shepherding chasing down at lambing etc we don't pull a snacker.. having ever only brought used quads yam kawasaki etc I quite like the idea of having a new bike cfmoto, kymco etc for half the price of premium brands..
but I've been looking at so many different flavours I've got lost as to what ones are actually a decent machine. What are peoples experiences on the new cheaper alternative quads ?

Do you need 4x4 or would 2wd with chunky tires do?

2wd Ozark with kenda bearclaws here. almost unstoppable by itself and low cog. Run rings round heavy 4x4's on steep stuff and fuel use but our sport quads at 48 inches wide will literally travel across the side of a cliff, up down any direction! Can't help with 4x4's as never ran one. Always looked too high and unstable

Cf moto, got one last backend for dad as I use a utv all the time. Been too wet over lambing time so I’ve had to use the quad and my honda was broken down. I was a bit sceptical at first but I really like the cf, plenty power and smooth to drive. Find the auto box a bit noisy reving harder than a manual would when you’re just pottering about but you soon get used to it. Got my Honda fixed and used it for a day and would by far rather take the cf now.

Where from that's a good price.. I've been getting closer to 7k standard. 520.. I was looking at the 450 but the dealer said they have only sold 1 450 but lots of 520 with no problems.

Is that £7k including vat? I was quoted £6k (ex VAT) for a 520 a week ago, before you start putting heated grips, tyres, etc on.

A lot of people seem to have been surprised by how good CF Motos have been for the money, but you never hear that of the other cheapies. Seriously considering one here.

Nobody knows how they will be for long term ownership mind, with most I know planning on changing to keep them in warranty.

You know you might be right about the vat..
I think that is probably the main thing holding me back as we will be keeping the bike a good 5-6 years.. as the plan goes atm anyway things can change..

Got a 450 cfmoto here. Coming up to 2 years now and been very happy with it.

Bought as a run around with an UTV but that is parked up and the bike does all the work these days with the snacker and all, and that's on hills.

Not sure to keep it now the 2 years are coming up and run it to the ground or change it for a 520 as it's having to do all the snacker and trailer work.
