Think there is a bright future for small scale serving local markets. Good luckAnimals, cows.
But I am harbouring dreams about some plant growing on a small scale for locals and maybe some eggs, maybe a pig or 3.

We are looking to do this too on parts of the land. Can you plant trees?
That’s all future farmers will need to do

No you don’t, but also keeps your eye in when your about to be fleeced. You can at least see it coming. Too many snake oil salesmen. You don’t need all these to farm!
Yeah, I aren't completely without knowledge about cows (my family) and we have the infrastructure to set to it and house them. Hya to feed them etc.If you don’t have any experience with cows I wouldn’t jump in feet first with them, they are big animals and you need infrastructure to farm them, shed for winter, forklift for feeding, a crush and a race for TB testing/vet visits and boulasing.
I'm from Yorkshire born and bred, tight as.No you don’t, but also keeps your eye in when your about to be fleeced. You can at least see it coming. Too many snake oil salesmen.
Don’t be so cock sure, you have Yorkshire salesmen who are the same breed and still get sales....I'm from Yorkshire born and bred, tight as.
Snaky salesmen stand no chance!

Only did my c+e as I’ve an articulated horse box as we show heavy horses. Easiest way to get them to the shows.Driving ones are a good point actually, so I will look at those.
Not gonna be handling a chainsaw, first aid is another good shout though thank you.

Bizarre threads started,
From new members !
Never too old for learning, but I can relate to the forgetting! All depends what sort of farming you are going into. Practically speaking local farm colleges usually do short courses, evening classes etc (used to, do they still offer them?)
I’m too long away from learning much now, more like forgetting most of it!
and a thick wallet!!Patience and an extremely thick skin.
