Id love to think you’re right. But some folk will always revel in the misfortune of those they don’t like.

They’re best ignored if that’s their attitude. Karma will catch up with them in due course.

I feel for you and hope things settle down once you get going proper. All you can do is know that you’ve done all you can, not that that makes the current drudgery any easier I know.

That’s it, I don’t get it either abs I do t get why the alamycin didn’t stop it. Maybe I didn’t jab them with enough, but it’s the worst sheep thing I’ve ever experienced. Lambing is usually quite pleasant, but it’s grim now. So far today off my head - paddock one five sets of twins, two dead sets, two live, one half abs half, paddock two, five sets of twins, two ewes with one lamb each, everything else dead, paddock three, three sets of triplets, one live set, rest dead. Paddock four - four singles, one alive rear dead. Probably missed a few more dead ones, they are starting to blur. Got a couple of vet students starting tomorrow, really not looking forward to it. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy, although I’m sure there’s a few who are probably having a laugh over this.
Nobody in their right mind could possibly laugh at your situation. Any shepherd who has a feel for their stock would be appalled at your situation. Is your vet helpful and supportive? Have they been able to give you some idea of how it will start to improve and positives for the future? Youve done your best in the circumstances and I hope the next few days will bring some hope.

My vet is very supportive and I think he was expecting the anti biotic to have stopped it. Re future, if it continues at this rate I won’t be farming sheep in the future, least not my own. I’ll have to sell up and do something different. Possibly for the best.

I assume they found Enzo on testing but is it possible there is another abortion agent on the go as well? campy, salmonella or toxo but they didn't find any in the samples? You often hear of samples taken but no conclusive results so I wonder if your getting a double whammy.

This is another good point. I’m going to have a chat with my vet if things don’t drastically improve this week. It’s gutting picking up cracking lambs and filling the back of my truck up with them. I’ve been trying to be quite positive and give the whole ‘I’m a survivor’ spiel but to be honest I’m at verge of giving in and curling up into a ball!

I take my hat off to you....you must be very resilient, I don’t think I could continue with sheep after what you have been through

I don’t know if I will. Not sure it will be possibly either mentally or financially. It seems funny really, it’s been such a hard road to get to where I am now, lots of fighting and lots of sh*t to Wade through, and this year is finally got there I think. Finally turned a major corner in the journey to have your own thing. And then this happens and it just all falls apart so quick.

It’s not the time to make rash decisions.

Shelve the decision making for when lambing is done and sleep deprivation is not clouding things.

I do hope things turn around as you are someone who are busting a gut to make your life better.

When I hear of all these folk on furlough getting 80% wages for fanny1ng around it makes my blood boil.Only thing is the pubs are shut so they can’t enjoy it.

We all have our challenges,if it’s not in the house then ultimately it’s not that bad.

Stay strong!

Very well said.... We've got a touch of campylobacter abortion in our ewes atm & I think sod the sheep they're just not worth all the hassle they come with, it seems to be one thing after another with them but take stock after its all over & not when your in it.... However I am coming round to the fact that u need to look after your mental health just as much as your physical body..... @CopperBeech see how u are when this sh!t*y god forsaken mess is all over in 3 weeks time & go from there...... 👌👍

Some very wise words again. One of the big issues is, that end of every month, my rent is due, both on my house, and the ground I run the sheep. So it may be out of my hands whether I carry on or not. But fingers crossed!
That's the reality of the hard working, forward thinking new entrants. You've got everything invested in the job.
Your not sat on inherited land with a nice large brown envelope arriving before Xmas as a nice little extra to help things along.

You know you've just to to ride the rough for the next 3 weeks, doing what needs to be done. It's not going to be easy, but it will end, and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Eat well, plenty of meat , veg and fruit and sleep when you get the chance.

Mm I must admit even though your 200+ miles from me I been thinking about your situation alot & it does seem very odd you've got such a bad Enzo storm even after alymcin... I do wonder whether you've got something else also.......?

Mate's ewes suddenly started casting fresh weakly & dead lambs 12 days before his due date ended up having 30/40 ewes do it..... Turned out it was toxo, not really the usual toxo presentation of mummified lambs....
