What size steel please

That makes me feel better but the last 2 buildings I have put up from wareings have been lighter and more expensive than others i quoted but I have a fair bit of trust with my supplier and wareings. Its good to hear from people in the trade and others that have used them.

I did work experience at Wareings when I was 15, left school and worked there they put my through college and uni and I put buildings up for them for a few years till I left. They're a really nice firm and make things right

Yeah they are, I normally speak to Janice when I phone and she is very attentive. Do you have any dealings with shield agriculture @RWG Contracts ? I had some cubicles from them and found them very good to work with.

If Janice is quoting then you'll be getting a good price (y)

Do you know I'd never heard of them but I'll be ringing them on Monday. I usually deal with IAE or Wilson Agriculture

i've just had a few building quotes and wareings is the cheapest ive had but also uses lighter legs than all the other quotes i have had. Was quite surprised how much variation in steel sizes there is amongst quotes.
I wouldn't be afraid to go with Wareings, they seem well engineered , all the stiffeners in the right places etc. They have good customer service too. I have dealt with two other well known northern building manufacturers over the years, and once the cheques cleared they don't want to know!

Well, I feel embarrassed now. I've always been of the option Wareings are the best.

Do you deal with Wareings direct or through Derek Rain?

just phoned wareings direct, i'm going for a 30ft span inside the legs and they are only ones to use 7x4 legs, i been doing alot of work with a local shed erector who put lots of wareings buildings up over the years and he says there good buildings and that size is what the've been for years, he thinks alot are just panicking about the ce job and are going over spec

Well that's surprised me as Wareings have being on 8" legs for 30' span for years and years. Who's priced it?

As a structural engineer and part time farmer I never get why farmers nearly always want to skimp on the steelwork to save a few quid and then brag to their mates that a 178ub is all you need for everything...
A couple of hundred quid to get a few specific calculations done by an engineer and then send out for like for like quotes has to be the best way does it not? Also your less likely to have any issues when your building falls after a snow load...
Also, the reputable fabricators are the ones who lose out as they are spec'ing the shed right but look dear compared to the cowboys...

A few years ago I went to the Farm Buildings Show and asked for a load of quotes. Of the few that quoted none of them could match our local guy for price or spec. As others have said the variation was surprising especially when they should all be working to the same regs. No prizes for guessing who got the work.

This is why we were looking to offer a service for people to have drawings and calculations drawn up for their sheds. They would then have a full set of calcs and drawing to take around to building suppliers to get prices.
