Wind here can be over 80mph/ blowing down trees, removing roofs etc, are you saying you get winds over 200mph on the coast!?

I wouldn't think so. I've been out in 120-ish, but not for a while and that was bad. Remember that they have massive blades now on the big ones (167m diameter), and I've seen 365W/m2 quoted as possible.

Neighbours have Enercon E92 3meg turbines, 78m hub height to tip of blade and maybe 95m plus across the rotor(cant remember) they were the biggest in the UK when they went up about 4yrs ago. Probably not now though. I know that a couple have over 1200m3 of concrete for foundations.

They are planning to build a off shore wind farm sub station on my farm and I think the plan at the moment is for 15meg turbines. Bigger they are the cheaper the build cost per MW
