Why is it illegal for me to go to my friends house 2 miles away yet you can visit family in India? Or go there to get married?

Over a year of restrictions the government expects us to live by yet they let people travel round the world and threaten us with new variants which could put us back to square one.

Then the question is why are the government allowing people to get on an aeroplane? From day one the pandemic has been fueled by people entering the country and with new variants it continues to happen

In a nutshell, people are cheats and liars and have found loopholes to justify their actions (house hunting in winter sun destinations, etc.).

Many people need to travel for work though, (and that’s allowed) and there really are trivial numbers flying in total, so I don’t think the number of cheating travellers is as big as many claim it to be.

Nicola's rules, those from Boris, or both...?

Well both. They have been preaching to us for over a year that we must do as we are told to save lives yet they are allowing foreign travel to continue.
Well, I voted for Boris and would never vote for Nicola* but that doesn't mean for a moment that I expect them to act with consistency, rationality or integrity - it just means I dislike the general 'ethos' of some less than others. 😐

*or Sir Keir or a Liberal, if they're still around

I look at the airport passenger data, because I realise that a lot of planes are cargo only these days, or very low passenger load. I also am on the north atlantic flight path, and noticed a trail in the sky the other day - I realised that what was previously the norm is currently a novelty.

Let's be honest Johnson & his cronies are simply a waste of space, this is not a conservative cabinet of old it is now full of chancers & spives with no morals or backbone ( just ask Johnny Mercer), this lot only care about themselves & their future prospects. Remember that when you next place a cross on a bit of paper!

You cannot return from India without undergoing hotel quarantine from today. India has upwards of 300,000 cases and 2300 deaths yesterday but it has a population of 1.4 billion so in relation to Covid at its peak it’s doing better than the UK.Kenya went on the red list 2 weeks ago as we have about 600 cases and 20 deaths per day. In India quite a lot of the cases are in fact the UK ( Kent) variant evidently the UK doesn’t want it back. The reason for the late addition of India to the list is probably trade, the high Indian population in UK and the fact that several cabinet ministers trace their origins back to the subcontinent. Shame we don’t have any Kenyans in the cabinet.
But basically it’s because you’re all frit.

Just tells you what they thought of the alternative choice, lesser of two crap choices
Thoroughly agree, no opposition choice with Corbyn at the helm, hence the collapse of the so called Red Wall. Not at all sure that the situation has improved greatly, although the Tories continue to shoot themselves in the foot with rampant self serving cronyism.

Back on topic, the travel corridor policy has been badly handled all the way through imho - I hope reports of huge delays at Heathrow limit travellers appetite.

Because the majority of people on this forum voted for a party of self serving cronyistic incompetent twits.
And the opposition are any better? A friend of mine once said "don't vote, it only encourages them". I used to think that was a stupid thing to say but I'm starting to think he might have been on to something. For the first time, I'm approaching an election with no idea who to vote for because I have serious issues with all of them.

My gripe is with the fact we have people traveling to India to see relatives but I would not be able to visit relatives indoors 2 miles away as things stand
