what to do, new calved with a sore tit end

I've a new calved heifer with a small sore on one teat end. It's getting worse each milking to get the quarter milked out. What can be done? The lad that works with me tells me his dad says dry that one quarter off and hope it calves in ok next time. Is that possible to dry just one quarter off, will the sore scab over and the teat end seal up? Thoughts and advice appreciated

thanks. The lads dad suggested drying the quarter off, antibiotic tubing just that quarter. I wasn't keen on that idea

Be alright until someone milks the wrong quarter, just stop milking it

I wouldn’t put a tube in it but I’d still put a sealant in the 1/4

Farm I milk at had a heifer with a really nasty sore up the side of her teat last year, think it was some kind of necrosis. Anyway it wasn't healing so we stopped milking that quarter. She's calved in again and milks fine on that quarter, only way you could tell anything has happened is the teat is slightly thicker, think because of scar tissue.
