What tools would a 2000w inverter generator power?

I bought a 2000W Chinese 12v inverter to power a 40W bubble machine on our primary schools float entry to the local gala day parade.

It would overheat and cut out after about three minutes

Makes sure that if you're buying an inverter generator that it outputs a full sine wave AC. The cheaper ones output a chopped square wave which electric motors don't like.

Well our kettle is 5kW (5000Watt) for the output, if that's any help?
So you need 2 and a half generators to run it when hot.
Go a bit bigger than you need ............ (y)

Can you force cool your genny in a box @DrDunc ?

Quiet, suitcase size it has to be the Honda EU series. You can parallel them up if needed.

Not worth it for power tools though. Too small and expensive

Run an open frame 6kva genny if you need to use a 9" angle grinder. I'd be using an 18v cordless for a 4-5" angle grinder, battery drill etc. Lithium batteries cordless tools are the biggest revolution in hand tools in the last 10 years.

I reckon its most useful.purpose would be for chsrging batteries for some of the aforementioned cordless grinders drills etc.
Bar a 4.5 " grinder or a 1/2" drill , i couldnt see it up to much more

I have an Aldi petrol genny. 3.4kW and it cost around £140 if I remember correctly.
It can drive all the hand power tools I've got and a 2.5 kW power washer and welder. Everything in the house works up to its combined limit: tv ,fridge freezer, ch pump, lights when it's switched in on a power outage.
