What was your 1st tractor ?

First tractor I drove, 1955 TEF reg TKA 899 which Dad bought new and I used as scraper tractor for 23 years.
First tractor I bought 1988 JD 2250 fwa reg E926 UEC with 245 loader. Both the above sold in 2000 when I moved to Canada. (Do either still exist?)
First tractor in Canada came with the farm, a 1986 Case 2096 with less than 1500 hours. I hated it from the first time I used it but it is still here and just about to roll over the clock. Surprisingly tyres, batteries, a starter and alternator are really all it has had, but because of issues in the powershift it is now only a yard tractor.
Most recent tractor purchase a 2007 JD 9520 4wd @ 450hp, one of the very last of the model, produced before JD started with all the environmental crap on their engines, now with almost 4000hrs.
Going to be in the market for a 350hp tractor in upcoming spring farm auctions to replace a very tired and houred out Case 4494 which has had a life of abuse since it came to live here, always being used to the max of its abilities, thats why we need an extra 100 horse.

First tractor I drove would have been an IH 523, but learned to drive properly on a Fergy T20. First new tractor I drove was a Deutz Agroplus 70, not a bad wee tractor that totally outperformed the 85hp one that succeeded it.

First tractor bought in my own right is my 956.

we had a 2096

didn't have many hours on it when it blew the pinion in the diff

there was a time I was looking for a 4494 with linkage, but never found a decent s/h one for sale

Yes the 2096 has a terrible reputation here, so worth nothing in trade, so it stayed. Some transmission parts for these old things are no longer available from Case or even breakers. This does not seem to be the situation with JD tractors of the same or earlier vintages.
Needless to say these two old reds will be replaced with green, old enough to not need urea, which I prefer to use as fertiliser.

DB 885 with a loader, that tractor would do everything a far bigger one would, had a scraper on the back all winter with the safety frame/roof off to get in the cow kennels, loved tearing off down the road on a really hot summers day with the wind in my hair, dont have the tractor or the hair now

Well I guess the first tractor I "drove" was a Leyland 253 aged 9 in 1976 (the year of the drought). I say "drove" because the reality was it was on a spud harvester going so slowly, the farmer would set it going in the furrow, he would jump off and tell me to keep it there (as if I had a choice). He'd jump on near the end to turn it round.
So the first bit of real driving I did was either a MF135 or MF 185; can't remember but I do know both tractors were on the farm. I thought they were both awesome especially the 185 as it was sooooooo big!
And today I had to drive a MF250. Great fun but it did make me realise how comfortable modern tractors are.

IH 434 reg WAO812H was first drive, and used to pass tractor test. No mean feat when it had the awful Lambourne green canvas cab with triangular flaps to use for door handles and hand signals.
Had on / off brakes and noisy gears.
Still loved it and sad when it made way for a Fiat 450.

My first drive was a War Ag standard Fordson doing some cultivating for us . I used to run home from school so that I could have the last half hour with them . It made my day when they went to catch the bus home (to Plymouth Grove in Manchester ! ) and they allowed me to switch it over to petrol before shut down . As soon a s they were out of sight I switched it back to T.V.O. and drove it for a time - it was on spade lugs too . The first one my Dad bought was also Standard Fordson , second hand from somewhere in Suffolk and came by rail . It had a duff magneto , and

so we got another , keeping one in the drying oven until it was needed . Happy days though -- never to be repeated I think.
Couple of rather tatty photos from an old album

First tractor I remember driving was a 1934 Case Model C, with advice/instructions being shouted to me by my Grandfather, scared witless.
First tractor flying solo on was one of our Power Majors, grew to rather like them.
First tractor as "mine", the Case 7220 assigned to me for a summer as a harvest casual with Velcourt, loved it, felt like king of the castle.
First tractor that i was responsible for buying, our current main workhorse, 2006 New Holland TM155. All good so far.
