What will happen to UK farm subsidies as farmers find themselves caught in Brexit crisis 'trap'?

Why did you ever consider there would be less regulation if UK left the EU? I find that an odd assumption. If anything possibly more regulation. Hey ho there you go.

based on years of noroso/farm assurance meetings where it would go something like

host 'well boys we've got this/that to comply with'
audience 'why?'
host 'eu directive'.....water...sustainable use ect....take your pick
audience ' what can we do about it?'
host ' elections/ballot box i suppose'.....shrugs his shoulders

carpet bagging industry types responsible for my leave vote

Another referendum, and it's close again. Another 4 years of grief again.

thats not all bad because

1/ it's better than civil war
2/ uncertainty hits strength of £

Absolutely, for as long as I can remember those in authority have blamed the EU for any changes the people don’t like, is it any wonder a majority voted to leave?

Remain would claim victory if they won by one vote , and that would be it for another 40 year . Remember your dealing with dishonorable people

not neccesarily....anti eu vote in local and eu elections would keep pot boiling.......remember cameron gave the referendum to try and 'shoot the fox'.....but the 'fox' is alive and kicking

Not all EU ss the government then gold plates the regulations. Greening and movement dates are examples

Because we were promised a 'bonfire of regulations'. You know, but the people who told all the lies pre-brexit about us being forced to join the Euro army, tens of millions of immigrants, joining the euro against our will, etc.. The real project fear, the one that all the leavers fell for.

Yes , that was my point, they gold plated the regulations and blamed it all on the EU, some countries looked to impose EU regulations with as light a touch as possible, we were all supposedly governed by the same EU rules but it didn’t necessarily work like that.

No one has mentioned the state of the European banks, and in particular the German banks.
The money the UK pumped into the EU project, will disappear, gradually. And even now all the uncertainty has rocked a good many financial boats, to the extent that the EU is starting to print money. Quantitative easing, all over again.
And the Netherlands aren't thrilled either, as they saw the UK as a strong ally against the Franco-German axis of power in the EU.

It took us 43 years to sign all those Treaties which wrapped us in a cats cradle of rules, particularly of trade. So to think that to get out is an instant exit, is naive. It will be a process, but one we have to proceed with, mainly because of the financial situation (above)

We found him, the person who actually believed all that crock of :poop: I though leavers voted for their own individual reasons but I didn't think anyone really believed the spin! That said I have moved my position and now agree with Borris, we have to leave 31st October, with or without a deal, we need to move forward. To have another ref and end up with a remain vote would rip the country apart. No deal will hurt, it will hurt a lot, but there should have been enough time for planning a preparation to mitigate the worst effects. We need to get past this nightmare and look forward.

Plenty believed the spin - millions were conned by it. Some even repeat it on here. But I can't agree with you on getting out - it will cause huge damage to this country if we do go without a deal, and that is not a price worth paying to save face, or whatever. We need to be united, agreed, but I see far more damage, long term, from no deal Brexit than there would be from remaining.

UK currently imports 40% of it's food. Why would any farmer object to Brexit?

Our esteemed leaders published their intended tariffs back in March, which I was remined of at an NFU meeting last Monday. There will be no tariffs on anything coming in from Southern Ireland, and very much reduced tariffs on most products coming in from the EU, whilst at the same time there will be WTO tariffs on our exports. Just about the only product with a like for like tariff rate will be lamb, but we don't import diddly squat of that from the EU anyway (Irish will be free of tariff).

Just that information concisely illustrated how much our own government will seek to support our industry, in the name of cheap food for the electorate.

Because Boris and Vote Leave said that's what would happen? The assurances we were given about the benefits of leaving will only continue to evaporate

"Boris rode the bus round the country, he left the truth at home," according to Cameron, the ex PM who got us into this mess mainly though BJ's duplicity and ambition. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49705213
"The conclusion I am left with is that he [Boris Johnson] risked an outcome he didn't believe in because it would help his political career."
