Had 49mph last night, probably stronger today but my anemometer packed up at 2 am.. Local stations have been reporting 50 mph plus gusts , with St Annes head station reporting a 70kt gust at noon today as the front swung through.. waves of 16 metres:eek::oops: .. normal range last week was 3m...
I think salt application on the entire farm will be considerable..

Salting wise here hasn’t been to bad, gates arnt sticky to touch, I’ve got average farm covers of over 3,000 kg/dm/ha after 32 days and need it in 7 days so I’m hoping it hasn’t all disappeared with salt, hopefully rain will wash it off and we don’t get to much sun for a few days!

According to weather station wind gusts peaked at 53mph about 8am today (- don't know how to capture the chart off my phone?). Had about 20mm of rain today - again mainly around 8 this morning.

Certainly glad to get the last cattle fed, shed doors shut and back into the house for breakfast this morning.

Kinda had enough wind and rain, thank you...………...

do you put the brakes on or what ever to stop them from turning...when high wind is forecast ?
Everything is automated. Shuts itself down in high wind gust and won't restart until sustained period of 'safe' wind is reached again. Also monitors effectiveness of braking and won't restart if low brake torque, takes too long to stop or anything else not quite right.

Last thing that is wanted is a turbine that CAN'T stop, they can self destruct at high wind speeds. Had a 'runaway' soon after ours was installed when our servicing company went bust and it was not possible to monitor it and it is NOT nice. Never thought I'd be so pleased to see it stopped but my goodness it was a relief when the Endurance chappie got up there to 'put the handbrake on'.
