What would you do?

We applied and received planning for a barn for feed and machinery storage and 5 stables in an L shaped block we also received permission for change of use to equestrian usage from Ag.

Having now experienced some of the weather at this new to us property we are now considering putting internal stables into the barn we have planning permission for and rather than building L shaped stables putting a storage barn there instead.

The foot print (interms of area built on and size of planning applied for) and building heights won't be any different than before, however we will now have two steel framed portal barns instead of one.
I am guessing my options are:

1) Throw two barns up, say nothing and leave it as that
2) Inform the planners of our decision (will I have to apply for planning for barn two?)

Cheers

It all depends on your neighbours? Will anyone notice?

Neighbours would be fine, however a footpath runs next to the proposed site
It does say quite clearly on the bottom of any successful application that the Council Planning Department must be notified of any change from the above plans to enable them to decide whether a further application is necessary.

Having played around (and slept, cried and pulled my hair out) on the local Parish Council for an eon or two (or maybe it just seems like it) I am confident that few things are built exactly as the plans have said.

Even enforcement seem powerless to stop it happening (for example a local ner-do-well recently received planning for a garage, built it, no garage door - a plastic front door instead - internal rooms, toilet, bathroom and kitchen. Enforcement decided that it wasn't worth pursuing the matter.

It is therefore up to your conscience, bravado, ability to disguise what you are up to, extortion and perhaps blackmail on what you do next.

Bear in mind that most people are extremely jealous of anyone else who appears to be making more money than them and will shop you in if they notice. Build a large straw stack between the footpath and the development and leave it there for 4 years.

To be honest I've given it a lot of thought, whilst it irks me I'll contact the planning officer & see how we proceed, it's a long term investment so may as well do it right

Someone complained about my 100x50 shed not being exactly where the plans say it is and I'm now still waiting on planning enforcement to decide on how I proceed.
The above ner-do-well erected a barn of this size on his small holding, trouble was it was put up in the wrong orientation (the one he had applied for, got rejected, reapplied the other way round, got passed, still put it up the way he wanted) bigger than was passed as well.

Enforcement decided that it wasn't a problem.
