take the tyre off, beat the rim into submission, paint inside and out, refit tyre.cant see any need for a new rim. Rims with far greater damage have been repaired with no problems.
Indeed, had one here where the water had laid round the valve hole for years, and rotted it right through. Had another rim, but it had round lugs instead of square ones, and i needed a matching pair for a restoration, so just cut the rot out, then cut a matching bit out of the spare rim, welded it back in, job done.
