Wow , decent collection of bulls there @martin gribbon ! And a very comprehensive list. Your collectors instinct is paying off. Some old bulls there I'd be interested in myself. PM me if interested in some trade/business.

Don't know Monaduff destiny - how's he bred? Take it the last few named are Fleck?

Destiny was the very first Hillcrest Butcher son to be born. Went to Progressive genetics. All the single names are Fleckvieh, beef type though.

Didn't list my Dual Purpose stuff as it's mostly for sale, although I do use some if milk is required, usually on an AA or Lim type cow.

Yeah , I like Hillcrest Butcher , he left a lot of good cattle from what I saw , and I've a friend who has a bull off him - he's very impressed. I also like the Fleck. idea - think they'll put a lot of milk on cows.

Very interested in Siegfried , Hamlet and Titan. These were all bulls that did a good job in the past , particularly Siegfried for females. Have you used straws in your own herd?

I know of a really good butcher son. is breeding very very well but because he was born in the south of Ireland( were his figures age quite good) his figures are dire in the UK. the sooner they get the EBV married up between the two the better.

Butcher was a great bull, I have a Stock bull and a cow off him.

Dual Purpose Flecks will add real milk, but the yields some of them will do, a lot of them may be a bit too much for a single calf. Great for adding milk to herds that have gone too terminal without having to go down the Holstein X route.

I got the Siegfried and Hamlet along with a few others in a retired dairy farmers tank, that was a happy day! Too afraid to use them, they are worth a pretty penny now. They'll have to be used some day though, they don't make much of an ornament :)

I'll PM you.

How do you get on with Keeldrum Clio? I am considering using him this year.

One for you simmi boys? Whats fallondene cincinatti a cogent bull like? Just fancied breeding a few replacement suckler cows, ebv's seemed to be ok?

just been looking at him in the cogent catalogue today. He seems to have popped up out of nowhere. figures look good but not that impressed with the photos. seems to have a very deep bow in his back but it might just be the way he is standing.

All this talk of ai is making me think about possibilities in our suckler herd, having bought some heifers in calf to a genus bull (cycodden conan) and was very pleased, what training is required (time and cost) and how much for initial equipement to start up?
