President

I've a midland 248 and a president jfk.

The president is in a different league, far better build quality with much better reception and sound quality. The (patented?) auto squelch is superb too.

The Midland can be easily modified to output 10w instead of the normal 4, but if nobody else has a higher output, they'll hear you, but not you them.

The president was bought second hand. The prices are eye watering! However you're are paying for something that has a reputation for quality, and has a five year guarantee. So if you drive a fendt it's a must :D

Get all my cb stuff from kcb.co.uk old midlands and cybernet models were the best, if you have a spare radio socket in cab I'd go for 1 that fits in DIN socket with external speaker just because it looks a lot tidier

Ive fitted a midland with a 6ft aerial on a mirror mount, cant seem to get hold of anyone that isnt in the same field as mine, rather annoying as i thought they should go a few miles at least. Any ideas why? And i was told my aerial is already swared by the shop so i dunno whats up! Any ideas?! Thanks.

a lot of mirrors are made from alloys these days so don't give a good earth , better to try and find a bolt etc. that is straight onto the cab frame ,
