Perten / Foss are the rolls royce machines as use by mill intakes and cover stuff like protein and oil testing as well as moisture, temp and Kg/Hl and are network connected for constant prefect calibration - they have prices to match the functionality - both are over 20k new. we decided on the 9500 perten recently but there is little to choose between the brands, just the deal

Both Foss and Perten make a cheaper machine that does all but the Kg/Hl and lack network calibration at about 8-10k

Sinar and Dikey John do the best simple moisture meters - 1-2K - we use a Sinar 6060 at the dryer and in field testing, we used a pair of them in the weighbrdge until this year and they have been very good

below price level that there is loads of choice Protiemeters (terribly inaccurate IMO) and many others

Sinar AP6060 very good, and portable if used with care, got mine for around £700 IIRC in 2011 after taking Clives advice(y)

Dickey John is accurate and some do bushel wt as well. It does make a mess though as you strike off the top of the cell and grain goes everywhere, need a tray to use it in.
I was advised to get a whole grain type and a grinding type, as they both have advantages and disadvantages. If you need to take the m.c. of a hand sample, remember you need one that only takes a teaspoon or two.

We have upgraded to sinar from a dickey john mini gac as we found to the dickey john was not accurate enough, shame because it is very easy to use.

Protimeters aren't great though Lishman can service them just down the road from you (if you're the Daniel King I met in Lincs nr Edenham). They can lose their accuracy after a couple of weeks, as I found out on my regualr trips to Lingrain with samples to test against their Foss. Sinar lasts the season usually. Marconi's last more than a generation!

Lincs Rewinds in Lincoln will service & repair Marconis. They fixed mine up last year.

At the bottom of this link there are the details for a guy who does mains conversion kits for Marconis & lives in Spalding. He must be near retirement age now - I couldn't get a reply from him when mine went down. http://cereals.ahdb.org.uk/media/185767/g37-grain-moisture-guidelines-for-measurement.pdf

Interesting that we have different experiences. I have used both Sinar 6060 and Protimeters extensively over many years. I WOULD NOT buy a Sinar. Unreliable, particularly at higher moisture contents.
IMHO Marconi probably most reliable unless spending serious dosh on Foss/Perten which is out if range for most farmers. Best value for all circumstances is still Protimeter as far as I am concerned.

Marconi moisture meters can be repaired almost regardless of condition and age. Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise..

Some of these units are over 60 years old and still going strong.
Parts are scarcer than they were but there are some still about...

If you are really stuck then I might be able to help...
Ex Marconi engineer who worked on them for many years...

As Clive says Perten and foss market leaders, which the mills use. Most of these are in the UKNIR ring check scheme. As Wold grain has said what ever machine you have its imperative to have accurate calibrations and ring checks or samples to keep it up to date. The machine is only as accurate as the data being supplied.
