A lot of folk on the west swear by Welgers, unsure if they mean pre-Lely days or not though. We've a Claas 340 here and it's fine in good conditions but as soon as the crop is damp it becomes a nightmare with her throwing net too soon and having to jump out to reset the knife. The small damp grass is also hellish for building up on the rollers and the smaller grass jams in the corners of the rollers so you have to constantly keep pulling it out to save bearings. Fine in dry conditions and a good crop though, but how many of us get perfect conditions! I would avoid another Claas
