What's the going rate for a Boulder?

I got asked from a landscaping business for large boulders/ field stone ranging from 20Kg up to 500Kg ish sizes that they had spied sitting in a pile of mine,

I was going to just charge them an "x" amount for loading and delivery but then they thought I was too dear and asked could they just collect and load themselves FOC...

I have a fair idea what garden these stones are going into and I would say that there will be a fairly substantial mark up going on them.

So what is the going rate for boulders per ton?? I know what a ton of stone/rubble is worth but this is slightly different.

Dyking stone £40 per ton plus delivery.
But it depends on your market and whether it is a lovely boulder a house name can be engraved on or just a rough rock the plough pulled up. 3 foot granite boulder £100

If they thought your delivery amount was too dear, sounds like any reasonable amount for boulders will be too dear.

You HAVE they WANT !,
Charge plenty because you'll cry when you eventually hear what they get for them :D

If they don’t want to pay X amount for loading and delivery, just tell them that they can instead pay X amount for the boulders (ie the same) if they wish to collect them instead. If they don’t want to pay for them (and you feel that your initial offer of X was reasonable), simply tell them you’re not interested and walk away. I’m sure the boulders aren’t doing any harm where they were.

I can supply lovely Preseli bluestone boulders, up to 50t in weight, buyer to remove! :ROFLMAO:
Neighbour got paid £10k, for 4 artic loads on a low loader, purchaser paid to have them dug out, then hauled to Kent!
A couple of 12 tons ones would be nice. Could you load them onto our Daf 45 7.5 tonner flatbeds?

Sound like nice looking boulders.

How many do they want?

I'm going to say £200/tonne if just a tonne or so. £100/t if several tonnes.

How far would they need to travel to get some as good, and what would that cost them?

Not all that long ago, there was some character exporting boulders from local hills to London for landscaping. 600 miles? But maybe he couldn't get an alternative return load? How about "price on application";). Or "make offer"? Works for some.
