Chap who metal detects on our land found a wheel bolt for a Roman chariot.
It’s in Ludlow museum.
quite a big find as it proved that the Romans came through this part of Shropshire.
Brother found a ceremonial stone axe which was also at ludlow museum( well he was quickest to bend over and pick it up ,I claim we both saw it at the same time),there is remains of a Roman fort at Wall town Farm, you will know where that is

A small flint tool about the size of a 50p piece. I don't think the stone age people around here had a lot of money. I also found an iron axe, but I can't decide whether that's old or just badly made. I thought I'd thrown it in the scrap, but it turned up amongst the rusty staples in the corner of the barn.

We have a few axe heads and flint arrowheads that Dad found in the fen and a dugout canoe was found when they were digging dykes out in the early 1900's. On the top land there was a Roman villa and we always ploughed up roof and floor tiles.

Never found anything here except a few horse shoes. Most of the ground around here was only settled in the late 1800s. Being a century farm still within the same family that settled and first broke the land is quiet an achievement. where I grew up was close to silchester and a few local metal detector guys found some coins but pocket fulls of musket balls.
