Started wheat today, Claire. 16%. 1st field 10.38, 2nd 8.99.

Sounds encouraging. What kind of specific weight was it? Did you add sunshine from a can (glyphosate)? :) How early was that drilled? Diego here is still 10 days away.

The first drilled block of Propino here will be fit by the end of the week at a push. My neighbour @tw15 did some Tipple next door today.

Just did a round in a couple of fields to see how fit it is. Sample a bit pinched but seems to be coming off ok other Tipple is still a good 7 days away from cutting as for wheats they are 7- 10 days off being ready.

Not sure. Turned *really* fast. Had full fungicide program. I am putting it down to being waterlogged over winter and then no rain frm about February. Its on heavy land, but looks pretty poor.

It is august you know, often get into wheat last days of July, nearly always first week august, mine (later drilled than for a long time) looks like a week to 10 days away yet.

Started today, Cordiale, 1st field 8.3 t/ ha 2nd 9.8 t/ha 14.5% moisture, 85 bushel weight which is very surprising because the grain looks horrible.

Fair number of wheat crops went off near me a couple of weeks ago. There are odd fusarium stems in all our crops- but the local crops that have gone were earlier drilled than most- mid sept. I think fusarium is the issue round here. This is nodal & stem based fusarium I am talking about here. Think our wheat is a fortnight away from the sprayer let alone the combine.
Interesting year. always think July can tell you more about what you haven't got quite right than any other month. Crops hanging on, fungicidal policy re green leaf retention, accuracy of head sprays, varietal difference, potassium status in relation to drought tolerance. Most agronomists switch off after head sprays- waiting for roundup timing. Stay in your crops- you can learn a lot.
