Well that's 30 acres drilled since yesterday late morning. Some fairly forgiving ploughed down grass ley. Murky and drizzly the whole time. Drill tyre picked up some soil and left a bit of a wheeling. Consequence of not pulling the zigzags but they would have blocked with bits of turf and damp soil. The Reekie harrow did an excellent job but the tines behind the wheels seemed slightly short.
I have another 30 acres that was destined for wheat but its just too damn sticky. I don't think the emergency Carrier will do much good on it either. There is a limit. Will plough up some lighter sprayed off grassland and drill what seed's left there instead.
So I am at 50% drilled or it could be said to be 66%. Bit of a moving target this year.
Looks really good to me.

Next thing the agronomist will be wanting a 3 way stack on it. Might leave the phone off the hook till we see what we've got. Rain tomorrow isn't really what it needs either. There is no serious blackgrass problem in that field. Could we get away with just a BLW spray in the spring. That's all we needed last year on late drilled stuff.
Anyway, I'm calling it Sunday now.
Unfortunately Doc the battle with the rooks will probably be next !! Best to get that battle won before you take heed of any advice on weed control .

Flufenacet is the backbone. There is nothing else I would add until sure I'd put as much flufenacet on as possible. Only problem with the genetics can be seen in other chem - how many actives bite the dust within a few years of their patent expiring........

Flufenacet and Propyzamid are working better but as we are quite limited in the application of flufenacet and propyzamid can only be used in rapeseed the late application of axial is still effective. If you cant go on the fields in the spring when its to wet and the growing season starts Atlantis wont work that good.
If that doesnt help its time to till the land or use glyphos and plant barley afterwards

Why wouldn't you use atlantis etc in the autumn? Do you have avadex- tri-allate?

Atlantis is ground active and you are not allowed to use it on frozen ground or if it is freezing in the night.
Especially in late application after corn the conditions aren´t often met. You are only allowed to use one active ingredient one the same culture. Therefore id like to save atlantis for the spring if that makes any sense.
Especially since I am plowing after corn and ground herbicides dont work that well after.
Because of the late drilling I dont have that much trouble with blackgrass, and the official consultation advises to use Axial on days like these with no rain and freezing in the night because you can get relatively far with less.
There are a few places in Germany where axial is completly usless and I think the Farmers there go for pre emergence in the autumm and Atlantis Flex in the spring.

Deer found the (undressed) seed where I have run the mechanism to check the coulters are not blocked.
