I’m currently watching two fields of wheat get trampled to death because people can’t stick to the footpath because of a bit of mud🤦‍♂️! To many people with time on their hands at the moment!

@DieselRob how are Weaving Sabre tine crops looking?
Well there’s no chance of them droughting off in the next month 😂
They look well and walk well too. There are some low areas/ historic furrow holes stood in water which will need rectifying post harvest but that’s no different to ploughed or min till land, I’ll put some pics up next time I’m there, more rain forecast tomorrow and snow for Thursday 🤦‍♂️

:( What a shitter of a year. After oats? Is there not one single crop we can grow that isn't beset by some devestating pest or issue?

the worst bit is 30 acres of triticale after wheat that was planned to be peas but needed a light field to get the seed drilled. I let the volunteers get too big which must have been harbouring them . One headland that was sprayed off a long time before the rest of the field is fine. A few patches on lighter parts of the fields after oats are being affected but luckily the oats were on the stronger stuff.

plan was to use oats for a cover crop before spring wheat but it’s really put me off that idea.

Yes, we got a flier saying to get the volunteers sprayed off so it's dead two weeks before drilling. Trouble was after the first volunteers came the second wave! I've a heavy crop of volunteers on the stewardship fallow and I'm sure it's chocked full of all kinds of beasties. Was it all DD / non plough?

I’ve 16 acres of wheat on light land sprayed off grass ley still to direct drill. 2 dry blowy days and it would stop squelching and be worth a go. An experiment.
The ploughed land I drilled with the MF 30 is coming through now though it’s a bit sparse on heavy areas. Not had any herbicide but very clean so far. The seed leaf is as thin and brown as I have seen but hopefully they will pick up. There will be a crop at least. The rooks attacked it initially but seem to have given up now. Scarecrow in high viz and banger ropes occasionally.
Will be lots of spring barley here again and some grass.

If it's through the ground your half way there, in a fortnight or so chuck some N on it and give it a good slug on MN then once it's dry enough give it a good hiding with the rolls and it'll be fine.

sacrilege left yorkshire for lincolnshire ah well takes all sorts ,ho ho

Tbh.....

Yorkshire hellish full of townies anyway now. Although every time we go back - driving via Carlton and Snaith - I point out the Yorkshire sign and show my children that the clouds are just that *bit* fluffier, and the sky that *shade* bluer etc.

All I need now is just a nice rain to wash some of the open slots in on the sticky patches. 👍
It was like driving on a spongey matress, so I hope it takes the water alright and doesn't drown the seed. Its zero till, so it must work. Can't look any shitter than the November drilled conventionally cultivated stuff, or can it. We shall see. Fight!
