no its not I agree and here its very dry, but it has been hard to be patient esp as we like most finished harvest early, and the weather has not caused any hold ups plus the peer pressure of those around us being all but sown up . I have said for years our best yields regularly come from sowings in or around the first 10 days of oct but if it turns to rain for a fortnight i could be in the dog hole, although im heartened in that the later sown crops did the best here last yearWith respect, drilling wheat in September isn't holding off.
Best yields here usually come from mid to third week in October drilled stuff, but like everyone I'm going to start next week.
Drilled oats today, which is really a bit early. We all finished harvest too early!
We are used to later drilling after maize and potatoes. Usually plough with combi drill right behind. Maize is already done and potatoes being lifted from tomorrow, so will crack on.no its not I agree and here its very dry, but it has been hard to be patient esp as we like most finished harvest early, and the weather has not caused any hold ups plus the peer pressure of those around us being all but sown up .
