how’s it going ?

Whose started ? Whose finished ?

About 50% done here now and aiming to be finished mid next week - going in the best conditions I’ve seen for years

First wheat after osr done last couple of days so about a third done. Trying to be a bit more patient with second wheats but I doubt my patience will last long into next week.

Hopefully seed for 1st wheat will turn up next week so we can get going on our tiny bit. Looks like it will go in lovely assuming we don't get anymore crazy amounts of rain in a day like last week

Started wheat after beans this week. Excellent conditions.

Should finish that this week, then into wheat after spring barley, followed up but maize ground as soon as that’s off.

too dry here for pre ems to work, only had 12mm rain last week, seedbeds would be fine with enough molsture to germinate grain and weeds, so will wait untill rain forcast .could drill it all in 5 days ,so no panic yet, with the cosf of pre em we want to get the best out of them ,we have set a deadline of the 10th of oct if no rain by then we will drill and roll wait 5 days and then spray the theory being we will be 3 weeks nearer to a rain event than if we planted today.

I've disced all my heavy ground this year, and haven't ploughed any. It's come up a treat.

With respect, drilling wheat in September isn't holding off:scratchhead:.
Best yields here usually come from mid to third week in October drilled stuff, but like everyone I'm going to start next week.
Drilled oats today, which is really a bit early. We all finished harvest too early!
no its not I agree and here its very dry, but it has been hard to be patient esp as we like most finished harvest early, and the weather has not caused any hold ups plus the peer pressure of those around us being all but sown up . I have said for years our best yields regularly come from sowings in or around the first 10 days of oct but if it turns to rain for a fortnight i could be in the dog hole, although im heartened in that the later sown crops did the best here last year

We are used to later drilling after maize and potatoes. Usually plough with combi drill right behind. Maize is already done and potatoes being lifted from tomorrow, so will crack on.
Got some continuous and second wheat that I'm trying to be patient about.

Seed dressers coming next week. Won't start until some rain forecast. Normally start mid October. Could do with 50mm of rain to soften everything up.
