Wheat drilling

It seems incredible how diverse the world is. Right now, in the east of the Iberian Peninsula, heavy rains are taking place of almost 200 l / square meter. And here in northern Spain in an area that usually rains, it usually takes 90 days without appreciable rain.

I see that you have finished sowing the wheat, here we should be sowing and we do not know when we can begin. Every year, time surprises us even more

Don't worry , if you're short we'll sell you some . (y)

Drilling on hold here, tried to flatlift spring barley stubble today in front of plough, even with new points and additional weight on the flatlift it refused to go to ground. Heavy land farm that we have taken on, think previous farm manager was a bit keen and worked land too wet in spring. Tried to drive a piece of half inch rod into ground , needed a lump hammer. Serious rain needed.

Thank you. The past harvest has been very good.

The price of wheat in Spain is lower than what is paid in the United Kingdom.

Today a farmer wheat for feed is paid at about € 180 / ton, which with the change of the pound sterling would be about 158 pounds / ton

I live in the province of Burgos. 40 km from the San Miguel beer factory, I know it perfectly

The province of Burgos is one of the largest producers of wheat for animal feed in Spain.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. One of the great things about this forum is the views from other farmers from around the world and find out their weather can also frustrate them.

Now with Google translate.

Gracias por tomarse el tiempo de comentar. Una de las mejores cosas de este foro es la opinión de otros agricultores de todo el mundo y descubrir que su clima también puede frustrarlos.

Hope that's right.

Thanks.
In addition to this interesting forum, in which I see that people think correctly and with education, I have the advantage that I am learning something from the English language

I do not have to tell you, but speaking English is fundamental in these times. The Spanish language is the second most demanded after English at world level, except for the Chinese language by the population of that country

Im always amazed at you guys that stop mid run with drill in the ground and get off and take a photo.
If I did that I would probably end up with half my coulters blocked

Are you happy with the tines for levelling the furrows out? I can’t do enough with the batter boards on mine without them blocking up. Looks like you’re on very light land there.

Its lovely kind fen soil. It's never had batter boards on it but I think they would help level the finish a bit better.

I think some of you early drillers on BG land will be in for a shock, this is some failed OSR ground, free draining brash, drilled originally with a Subdisc and seeder box, FB ate the lot so re-drilled with combi, again FB ate the lot but a lovely crop of BG, just sprayed off today. Am very surprised how bad it is as not normally a problem field.

Have you considered flat rolling it, and selling it as turf ?

Joking apart, the way that stuff tillers and grows, you could make a fortune selling it to the premier league clubs as a 'self repairing pitch'... o_O

If that's not a problem field, I'd not like to see a bad one
