can't it go on your other tractor?

3m Vaddy box drill on 240hp wouldn't be great, plus its stuck in the shed and still on the tractor thats having a rest [emoji57]
Being an optimistic soul, I hadn’t envisaged TNS not having an oil filter for a 6200 series MF and then taking 2 days to get it

Having read this thread it appears there's Still a few bits of WW to go in, I've got some beet tops that's just been lifted and it's in lovely condition to plough or cultivate and drill. Do I do it or wait for spring and put barley in???

Only you know what’s going to be best for you profit and rotation wise. I quite like growing spring barley but it seems a shame to miss a first wheat opportunity.

That's the thing, a nice first wheat althought after last nights rain it may well end up barley.
I've fallen out of love a bit with spring barley, profit wise I'd say 3 ton of wheat will be better, growing costs won't be that much different only a few £ more for N.
Cheap and cheerful herb and a couple of fungicides and bobs your uncle....

Watch this space!

But a good spring barley crop is better than a poor spring wheat crop
Winter wheat can do well after a first cereal spring barley crop
Blackgrass also better controlled in a good spring barley

Never tried WW after a first spring barley. Worked on a farm that did that and yields weren’t great and volunteers were a problem. Personally I won’t be sowing any more ww after beet it will all be sb. I find growing costs a lot greater unlike @robbie and like you @shakerator the BG control to be worse.

There's a good few around here(me included) who grow the majority of there winter wheat after spring barley after beet because beet is the only break and there's only so much wheat you can put in after beet.

I always regard ww after sb after beet as 1.5 wheat rather than a true 2nd wheat.

@flat10 what do you find expensive when growing late wheat after beet? Surely black grass isn't an issue and there's no need for T0 fungicides.
