i put some Clare in about a fortnight ago at 16st/acre, walked it today, got a good chit but im not expecting it through till beginning of march, land is so cold and wet cant expect it to get a move on just yet

Not if its 'winter wheat' seed I wouldn't think. Better to have it to thick but growing than to thin and battling the elements. We'll be going again this week and Solstice will be 650 seeds and XI19 600 seeds.

Clive, are you using the 750?

I'm nervous about DDing w. wheat too early and too late this Spring. I mean redrilling after overgrazing by slugs. Will they come back and take new seeds?

This little bit is going in with a combi drill (contractor) but i might use the 750a to top up plant counts in a few thin bits of ww latter this week

Not going to drill spring crops with it until its much warmer yet

Going tomorrow at 350kg/ha as a second wheat on light land. Ploughing it today. Dont expect to many tillers from sowing at this time of year so keeping rates up. Whats the take all risk from sowing this late?

just packed in ploughing got half way through 30 acres of light land that wasnt turning up too bad, probably be the weekend before its dry enough to do anything at so think we just going to leave it. Gladiators the latest recommended we got which is mid feb cut off so i think its maybe pushing it more than id like to sow it over weekend. had an optomistic go on the heavy land first and the wheels were more effective tha the plough.

I gave up with our winter wheat on the 15th. I think we'll get a better margin from spring beans than a late wheat crop. Hopefully I'll get a good wheat crop established after the beans are off. Good luck though, but I'd be a bit nervous about planting Invicta now.

we have about 2 acres at one end of a 17 acre field of barley thats failed and the more i think about it the more i think it would be good to have a "play" and put some ww in at the end of march just to see for piece of mind o_O

Thanks - will need all the luck i can get.
I am nervous about the Invicta but checking Limagrain website this am they seem happy up to end of feb and "have even had good results into March".
Have a bit of DAP in the back of a shed and will broadcast tomorrow ahead of pulling up clart and "placing" seed... plan then is for weather to hold off long enough to get a good haze and harrow clods down over seed. That's plan J. By wednesday i might be on plan K.
