Forget the drought. Blossom midge will be my biggest yield robber this year judging by the ears I have just rubbed out. Unaffected grains are plump if a bit small, affected grain sites have no grain at all.
You are not helpingSome parts of even this area got a good dose of rain when most of the rest of us didn't. I would have thought on well bodied land that those areas should be expecting pretty good yields.
I have way too much of that in resistant varieties tooForget the drought. Blossom midge will be my biggest yield robber this year judging by the ears I have just rubbed out. Unaffected grains are plump if a bit small, affected grain sites have no grain at all.
Bushel 77 (Hag 300+) protein 14.5%!!
Yield at least 8 t/ha. crop is way too thick for the season but seems to be getting away with it

No I'm sure you haven't! I think it's the season, I reckon proteins will be pretty high in the main.Cut some Crusoe yesterday pm, 13.9% moisture, 79.1 specific weight and 13.1% protein. First time ever didn't put liquid N on the ear as was too hot - have I just wasted 20 years of religiously apply the stuff?! But I know every year is different......
I went and rubbed some skyfall out a couple of days ago, was very hard , but other parts of the field weren't . I might try it again this coming week.
Fresh combined wheat never gives an accurate reading on small sample farm moisture metersYup, just got to be patient!!! Think the wheats will do well this year, not epic but certainly better than expected
