Does anyone now If seed is avaliable for any of these? Still hear of a little istabraq grown so I assume that one is not sure of the others.

I bought some new Istabraq last autumn after FSS'ing for years from the breeder whose name escapes me but they are part of another breeder now I think. Based in Lincs......
Nickerson I think.

Elicit,do you know its disease scores Barry, there is no information on the Candidate list ?

AHDB won't quote the figures until a variety has been National Listed and until it is it cannot be commercialised. Commercialising before listing can mean a breeder is not able to collect royalties on a variety.

Hence it has only just appeared on the Candidate list as National Listing came through very recently.

There is only 0.5ha of high grade Consort in production this year and that is mainly for people who use it for fungicide trials.

No Riband in production that I can see but Istabraq is still around but mainly in Scotland these days.

Hat-eating time. Field of Siskin. Ears have 8 more florets on than similarly treated Skyfall. Still think, as a variety, that this does not tick the boxes ie slower to get away and more spindly. However, I didnt like Crusoe as it didnt thresh, yet still ended up with a massive pile of it.

Current best looking are:

1) Relay
2) Siskin
3) Lili
4) Skyfall

Had Leeds 2 years ago in a block of Viscount and Zulu, in comparison it was as if the grain elevator trap door was open when I got into the Leeds.
Had Revellation last year to try, and it was a full week behind the Viscount in the same field to cut, and was still green in the butts then. Yield was not better than the Viscount.
Siskin and Costello will probably stay for another look, and Zulu or Viscount

It looked really good. But you know what some wheat is like, when you rub out a handful of ears expecting lots of bold bright grains and end up with half the grains you hoped for..
