Wheat vs oat straw - opinions

Which would be better for feeding to beef stores in ring feeders outside.
Organic spring oat straw, unchopped with a bit of green.
Or
Winter wheat straw, good quality nice and bright but is chopped.

Oat straw for feeding , unless its in a diet feeder for milkers them im not so sure

Trouble I find feeding wheat straw outside is as soon as it gets wet they won't eat it.

So I would lean towards oat straw if that that is the only other option. Not that I have ever used it.

Oat straw, not as absorbent so good for your issues and they like it more! Higher in protein too I think.

We have used oat straw this year, v short so doesnt need much chopping, too short to eat on its own I think.

Depends where you get it from .a lot goes to that place in Essex that used to pay a premium. but seems to have gone quiet on price lately

Needs to be chopped or they will trail it all over the place. I can't abide the sight of ring feeders overfilled, and unchopped silage hanging out of it and over the ground. Such a waste.
