I certainly seems to be working for them.....20% market share.....twice that of Ford..... despite the industry sceptics...it turns out that a lot of people, unlike farmers, don't actually want to get into a negotiation with a smart-arsed salesman over price. It also gives a greater degree of transparency of what they are getting for their trade-in.As I've always thought when buying something it's the cost to change you need to worry about so the above is very clever of Toyota.
No doubt in my mind it will be a successful way to market your product , hopefully others will compliment Toyota by copying, save everyone a little time.I certainly seems to be working for them.....20% market share.....twice that of Ford..... despite the industry sceptics...it turns out that a lot of people, unlike farmers, don't actually want to get into a negotiation with a smart-arsed salesman over price. Farmers like to haggle in NZ... just the same as the UK.. but the change to TDP hasn't stopped sales. Interestingly, Hilux is still the preferred choice for real farmers... Ford Ranger being bought by softer types.. with most of the Ford sales coming from the Hi-Rider versions....4WD chassis but actually only 2WDNext thing they will fix the trade in prices via Glasses Guide for example. As that's the only variable left. Good thinking from them. You either like it or out don't. Simples.
Who exactly did you think would pay for the carriage? Dealers have to pay it, so it gets past on to the customers. You can't honestly think a £15 tin or two of paint they can absorb the £8-10 in carriage that would cost to ship do you? I suppose they could have put the price of each tin up? or you could havestated your in no rush and they would have added it to a stock order and be ready in a couple of weeks or so.... people amaze me they really do.
if I was told about the carriage I wouldn't have minded - apologies for creating a sense of amazement.
Can understand why you'd overlook the possibility of having to pay carriage. Something like paint should really be on a stock order.Really?! So you closed your account there because they didn’t tell you about the carriage on the paint pot?!
How did you think they were going to get there without carriage...?
In reality a deal is never 'completed' until the money is deposited in the seller's bank and the goods are transferred. When is a deal actually done? Was the question ever answered? How about having a deal done and cheque in the post and the other party texting to tell you to cancel cheque because its sold?
Getting hard to trust people now though. I still have vat invoice am I supposed to return itIn reality a deal is never 'completed' until the money is deposited in the seller's bank and the goods are transferred.

Cheque was posted on wednesday, vat invoice had been emailed late tuesday evening, text arrived today to say item was sold to someone else. Cheque would have taken 2 or 3 days to get there I suppose by the time it went from ireland to England. Just another case of paddy the stupid Irishman I thinkIf they agreed to sell you the item, then they are in breach of contract. We don't know what terms were agreed, but assuming you agreed to send the cheque without delay, and they agreed, then any costs you may have incurred, or are likely to incure (such as finding the same or similar at the same price) should be at the sellers cost.

The fact that they’d sent you an invoice tells us the seller had accepted the deal, so to my mind you have proof in black and white.Cheque was posted on wednesday, vat invoice had been emailed late tuesday evening, text arrived today to say item was sold to someone else. Trader. Starting to feel like I can trust noone anymore. The fact that they’d sent you an invoice tells us the seller had accepted the deal, so to my mind you have proof in black and white.
Wether you’ll get anywhere pursuing the matter or wether it’s easier to let it go is another matter.
Is this a private sale or a trader? I think you’d be within your rights to name and shame them, after all, if they’ve done it once to you, they could well do it again to one of us.
No, there’s plenty of trustworthy buisnesses out there, there’s a few of the other sort too though unfortunately.Trader. Starting to feel like I can trust noone anymore.
