Instead of Lambing ewes,
option A) buy ewes and lambs
option B) wait til earliest store sales (kent,Devon?)
option C) buy last of last years hoggets and keep til teeth have grown and sell ( is that possible?)

for a block of mediocre grazing thats been offered?

At the present time I can't see any profit in ewes and lambs.
I don't think any of the hoggets will ever be cheap enough to run them around after they have cut their teeth.

A better bet, but no guarantee as the grazing is average is to buy plain ewes, but make sure they have enough teeth to eat grass.

From everything i read & hear many ewe hoggs are going for killing plus many ewes ,so breeding sheep are going to be in short supply this year .plus with the excellent prices @ the moment ,are a lot of new buyers going to try and buy in ??

I think if I didn’t have breeding ewes and not wanting to bring disease in, cull ewes must be a more profitable bet than Hoggs providing you can keep them alive. That’s maybe more for buying in autumn and taking through to spring. Good thing about culls it doesn’t really matter what condition they are in when you sell them if you hit the markets right.
