78 year old man confronted by 2 burglars, at least one was armed, in his own home, at night.

One of the burglars gets stabbed and dies.

Am I the only person thinking ......"So what?"

And the Police arrest the resident on "suspicion of murder" ??

All Mr Burglars "human rights/legal redress" should be left outside the property he broke into.

The other downside is that many peoples respect for the law that is designed to protect them will be lost.

Yup, should be if you enter a property with the intent to steal, you relinquish your rights. I suppose it might be hard to prove 'intent' sometimes but if one was armed then no contest.

I thought the law had been changed now to allow reasonable force,I think police always arrest a suspect so they can be questioned under caution incase the incident isnt quite as it first looks. Good luck and well done to the old boy he deserves a medal
