My rape barley and wheat are starting to look for feed going discouloured but it's to wet to spread would you wait until dry enough or go now and make a mark I'm a one man band and lambing is to start next week normally have the first dose on before

I think many of us are in the same boat on this one.
I’m going to let it dry a bit or wait for a frost and “ice road truck it” on

We've been trying to get on osr and wheat but are trying to do the right thing and have some dry weather. However, it's now March & they need feeding. With a better forecast this week we'll be finishing the last 2 wet fields of osr and doing as much wheat that isn't under water as possible.

@Gedd I'd crack on when you can travel. If you're really worried about leaching then keep doses down but everything is growing so needs feeding IMO.

In the same boat here, but no point making a mess and possibly getting stuck.
Worth remembering that 2 years ago we had the beast from the East , when nothing grew until April. The cold and biting winds almost took all the leaves off the wheat, but we went on to have a good harvest .

Takes a bit of time for my clays to warm up. Ideally some on asap. But without a frost I wouldn't dare! New grass so not a thick mat of roots to carry the tractor.

I think you'll have to compromise: wait until it's a little drier, so as to leave a mark but not as bad as if you went today. If you wait till it's proper dry you may well have already lost yield potential.

Yes, but not in sunny windy weather. Usual scorch avoidance measures. There will be plenty of bare soil to take it and little leaf area to scorch.

Very surprised how it started to dry up today with wind and sun. When I walked some fields late afternoon, they would’ve travelled apart from the odd wet patch .
the difference in my early drilled barley and a field I shouldn’t have drilled after potatoes, which is going to haunt me until harvest as we’ve decided first loss is the best loss, rather than re drill it .
