If you enjoy driving and want a new one,and can afford it buy or lease a new one, if you don't get any enjoyment from driving and don't care or can't afford too much buy an old banger...
it really is that simple... now to check post tomorrow at page 22

Have you got a ford pickup? Didn't realise you finally took the ducks advice.....
I'm not and have not advised anyone to buy a Ford pickup. Jeez!

I can only say that mine, an automatic 2.2, goes well and has been faultless in the 25,000 miles I've owned it. Other experiences may differ, especially if they have needed parts

If mine goes bang tomorrow, I'll tell you here.

@Lincsman , grain buyer I'm affriad is right as you , technically didn't advertise the details..... what do you do again?

I can assure you i did in the small print, if the buyer cannot be bothered to change the screen resolution (to massive) to read it before signing thats his problem, anyway he has sent 15 lorrys to load so better go......

Just been shown the highlights from the fuel consumption records of a medium size companies
car fleet, the drivers can choose thier own cars within a price bracket.
the 2 hybrids that feature most, 1 german and 1 japanese , both average less than 30 MPG
over considerable annual miles

Never buy a car from a neighbour, it may be 95% perfect, but that 5% that needs fixing will bug you every time you drive past his house.
Was offered a Renault 30 by a neighbour years ago to replace my Renault 5. This 30 had every mod. con for the time and I was almost tempted. Chap would stop on his way home from work each day and tell me what he had done that day in way of bonus items, -full service, polish, valet, new tyre etc, always parking close by our hedge to show off his pride and joy. Then one night the price dropped by 50%, he needed the cash and we were mates etc. He'd obviously had a memory loss from when the car had ended up in the ditch that morning and side parked in the hedge needed a bit more than T cutting.:(

I don't like the same car all the time so we change every 3 years. Doing that as a buyer is risky so hire makes sense. Hire also spreads tax offset rather than one hit if you buy a commercial. I know a guy who is putting about £20k a year lease cost (4 trucks) to offset the tax as he'd prefer nice trucks for staff than giving it to hmrc and then not having any vehicles for staff.

Cheapest way would be ride a bike. Or a tractor. If I didn't have kids then I'd sell the car and drive the tractor everywhere. Aside from school runs, only place I go is the shops two miles away!

Oh my God; what it is to travel! I rarely leave my farm yard these days unless I occasionally take the 135 along the road to watch the traffic lights change at the cross roads before hot footing it back in time to feed the calves at three o'clock.

To travel as much as two miles is an expedition into unexplored territory where dangers lurk and strange tribes may inhabit. I went to Rhuddlan once but I was glad to get home. |Such strange cultures abound when far from home; and so many people holding small plastic things to their ears and talking to themselves; made me think I was in some strange sort of weird futuristic world where people had become slaves to little panels that were always held to the sides of their heads!

I am all for travel and broadening the mind to various cultures, but I'm afraid that Rhuddlan is just a step too far; I much prefer to stay at home, sweep the yard and feed the cattle, lock up the doors and then retire to bed in time for 'Book at Bedtime' and the shipping forecast.

You need to get out more. I was like that once.

Think of the kids. They need you to take them out to see stuff and explain stuff to them as a father. To take an interest in the world around them with help from a male roll model. So do you. There's life beyond the farm boundary.

I was only making a joke. I'm a fond traveller at heart. I've been all over the world and love to find hidden gems here in our own country. When it's been a cold, long winter, I do like to joke about being a hermit haha!

EDIT: Also, with the price of running a car, sometimes I wish there was a cheaper way!
