L200 here , new March ....1985.We've had Toyota pickups since 1985, still only on the 3rd one now in 39 years . Current Discovery is 16, the same age as the present Hilux. When something goes wrong with either now I suppose they'll have to be changed for something newer, keep the Hilux on limited use maybe

Well done!!! How on earth have you managed to stop it turning into a pile of rust because that's my biggest problem!
Bought a car last week. 6months old 5k miles on it, I paid £24k. 6months ago it rolled off the very same forecourt for £38k.

Is £38k the list/retail or the actual invoice the customer paid? I bought a 10 mile pre reg last year at 27% discount to list if that means anything.

Just done 502 miles on 13 Gallons lot of driving in London as wellSo it has had an engine failure? Have they sorted the front tyre scrubbing issue as well?
That’s almost exactly what I get long distance, travelling a lot of motorway at 80mph on my Volvo. 39mpg.Just done 502 miles on 13 Gallons lot of driving in London as well
12 x £20 + £40 = £280I rest my case, the total will be 12 x £20 + £40 up front = £260... who do you work for again?

Yesterday did just under 100 miles at a more leisurely pace and got over 41mpg.
It’s really surprising how economical today’s relatively big and heavy cars are. Only ever got 50mpg from a 54hp Astra diesel which had no power steering or air-con. 30mpg from a petrol Golf GTi which I thought great at the time because it actually beat the wheezy old Mk1 Fiesta 1300S.
Now we have all singing and dancing, ultra safe and clean cars that are three times the size and weight of those old cars and far more powerful and fast, yet are 30 to 50% more economical on fuel.
That is incredible from such a heavy vehicle.
