When to drill winter beans

I am allowing for a lot of losses. It’s uncleaned fss. I counted out 100 seeds and found 25 either damaged/v small or bruccid damaged and there is a 7% admix of broken seeds etc. taken into account in the tgw.
Bruchid damage doesn't stop them growing.
But yes if it's uncleaned fss then a higher rate is easily justified, you'll have the split ones for a start, and there's plenty of them in my heap this year ftom them being so dry.

Put mine in end of last week (12/13th). They are quite deep and shouldn't be showing for at least 3 weeks. I wanted to get them in as it's usually around this time they do best and we have wheat to get in later for BG so didn't want clashing.

What pre-ems will people be using? Kerb + PDM? Or maybe kerb plus clomazone? Or all 3? Is there anything else worth using? defy maybe?

Drilling mine now.
Cold air. Hope the soil cools a bit for the kerb.
Dry though.
Moisture at drilling depth.
Going nicely.

I drilled our winter beans on the 10th at a good 6” deep and half the bloody things at up . I will get some pics this morning. Sealing them was a bit of a rush job as I planned to leave them as long as possible and put a drop of round up in with the pre em but had to scrap that idea .
