Wasn’t planning on using any fert this time due to how dear it has gone, but with how dry it’s been and the grass not growing going to get some ordered this week. Will spreading it now ruin it if no rain comes soon? Or should I wait till the weather gives certain rain coming.

It will take a long time to get to the plant's roots if there isn't any water to carry it there.

Was wanting to know does it do the fert any harm sitting there with the sun on iy
No it won’t, what will happen is it will sit and the over night dew will push it into top 1/2 inch of soil. When it does eventually rain till wash it further . After this and some sun it will grow like hell! I’d personally prefer to spread in a dry then in a flood
