When will it stop raining

April may was a disaster , far too dry
It was very localised. Earlston Lauder area had yields very much in line with their 5 year average. On the Merse winter wheat which had emerged before the October deluge yielded a ton an acre more than that which hadn't. It was just luck whether you got the rain showers running down the coast as well.

Yields of grain were ok
Just no straw and little hay

Absolutely, there is so much going on that is not being studied or reported on due to anything not climate change/ global warming is off script and a firing offence. 18m more ice in antartica 30% more ice than 15 years ago. North pole plus 1C average, south pole -1C average. If there was all this melting but no freezing somewhere else the guys in the Indian ocean living inches above sea level would all have drowned years ago. Piece the size of London falls off. Big deal its a bl##dy continent same as a pimple on the elephants ass falling off.
What the hell I have just read??? I didn't kept in check this forum, this was a hard week, but fortunately I didn't forget to read it! I really can't believe that these things happened, I mean how is it possible that in antartica, for instance, there is more ice than before? I have already read something of this genre, and for this reason I'm stuck...
I thought this was a fake news, but now I have the certainty that it isn't. Too bad people don't know it.

As stated nobody who requires govt funding in any way shape or form including BBC dares speak out in any way less the wokies get them cancelled.
Yes the Himalayas, French and Swiss Alps are melting where is all this water going. The guys who live on stilts in the Indian ocean have seen no change in sea levels. What we have is the moon (cycle every 32 years) The closest to the Earth in hundreds if not thousands of years so greater gravitational pull. Combine that with other low pressure events and you get flooding. Remember super Moons. See what happens as in Texas if you put too many eggs in the windmill basket, same as woke california they get power brownouts. Make sure you have a good generator it will be needed as soon as nuclear goes off line either planned or unplanned.
The met office set their computer up in the nineties for global warming and since then their forecasts have been crap compared to the 80's.

Over 5" in both December and January. 54mm in Feb so far & currently raining. We got off lightly - Cumbria is an hour west of here & they got 3" yesterday. Even the quad bike will get stuck today.

What you have said may well be correct but it doesn't mean climate change isn't happening as well.
I think the most helpful thing is to see it in terms of energy. We are generating huge amounts of energy that end up in weather systems that inevitably create more extreme events that occur more frequently.
This is perhaps why averages haven't changed as much as some predict. Last year was statistically average. 2 months of rain, 3 months drought and then 7 months of rain didn't feel very average.

Yes, we were speculating today how long it would be before a sandland farmer started looking for rain. Soil fuller than a toddlers nappy.
Pulling a field over now thst was spuds it’s just had Subsoiler ,putting pigtail through it to freshen it up . Another piece what had carrots 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😡 3 inch crust on 7 inch of jelly , concrete under it , no more carrots, will have to dry a bit to travel on that 😡

I don't dispute the change in climate just question the causes. No sunspots this year first since 1700s' caused wildfire in the sky. Sun activity reducing till 2034.
The Thames froze in parts this year maybe skating under Tower bridge by 2040.
Lag time remember. Cold this year helped by lower pollution, clearer skies. Mayans, Incans, Egyptians Greeks et al studied the sun and made forecasts from it. We need to concentrate a lot more effort in this again. Results allowed to be published without the fear of being cancelled. I am not a climate change denier just a sceptic about who is making money curing it.

That's why whoever coined the phrase "global warming" did a great disservice. The true expert researchers in the field only talk about "warming" in very specific terms, they use "climate change" for the general tend.

The earth's climate has always changed. It's changing faster now though due to our activities. There is HUGE uncertainty about exactly what will change, by how much and where but they can give predictions of general trends with fair confidence.

I like to use the analogy of the old kids "Spirograph" toy for our climate. Those old enough to remember it will know it had a series of plastic frames and gears that meshed, with holes in the gears to put a pen or pencil through. You put paper under the frame and ran the chosen gear, with your pen in it, round the frame. This gradually revealed a complicated design on the paper. A small change in which hole the pen was in or which gear was used utterly changed the design. It worked by creating patterns within patterns within patterns. You could only see the big picture emerge once you'd done enough rotations.

We are trying to understand a system (our climate) which is based on many cycles of greatly varying length but only have good data for the shortest ones so we are only seeing part of the picture. Ice cores and geology have given us a very fuzzy view of some of the very long cycles but our robust data is only around 200 years old, a blink of the eye in climate change terms.

Anyone who claims to fully understand our climate is a charlatan, a con artist or selling something imho.

A chap that I know works for The British Antarctic Survey and he gets really fed up with the media always portraying climate change as apocalyptic.
He says that the climate is changing, but it's not all bad. The Sahara and other deserts, for instance, may well get enough rainfall to become fertile.
Just because it's different to now, doesn't mean it's bad, just that we have to change what we do or where we live.

Using one word: wonderful. This is the bad sides of all the news, and the hardest thing to imagine is that this is true... Only one doubt: the moon. I always thought that the moon is leaving us, and not the opposite. Probably you're right, because you're destroing all the false mythes, and of course, I knew only a small part of them, but I really can't believe that of the moon... Now I'll tring to find it on google, even if this is harder than you think, given that these false news are scattering through all the web, but I actually don't know it. This is absurd!

I agree in part with you. However ice cores from the Antartic go back thousands of years. They can pinpoint Vesuvius eruptions etc.
I still have not seen anybody here deny both the maths prof from Durham and even Corbyns' brother before he went doollaly that sun activity has been reducing since the 80s' culminating in a low of 2035. That to me has more effect than anything us mere mortals are up to. With us in mind remember when Oz Pm Which one?? when challenged by Greens said next week we will stop all fuel burning, electricity production etc etc. Greens said that's a bit drastic! His reply was whatever CO2 was saved in OZ in a year would be made up by China in less than 2 weeks so F off.
Global warming???? in the 80's 30-40000 people were sleeping in Regents and other London parks on the grass. Lots of old people died of heat exhaustion. London has had extreme heat recently?? how many people slept outside and how many died??? Has everybody got air con? I don't think so! In the 70's I milked cows, wore a pair of trainers, shorts and a vest. At 7.30am went outside to change group of cows and threw vest away for the day. That went on for months. I stand by the forecasts that the world is getting colder!
That in itself as per our and Texas polar blasts there will be severe changes which to my mind will only get worse. My advice make sure your insulation is good and buy a good generator. I have 3. Plus lots of jerrycans of fuel.

Fact: the moons circuit of the Earth brings it closer every 32 years. I originally thought 30 but a marine biologist corrected me. Super Moons recently, surely you saw it on the news within the last couple of years. 1953 major floods Northumberland and Lincolnshire. Google the floods in Lincs in recent years. As near as dammit 64 years (32 X 2 ). Low pressure over North sea caused a surge same as 1953. The sea wall at the Ross Northumberland was lapping over and it is much higher than in 1953.
