Where does "bottled" milk come from.

I am in Wester Ross, I hear the bread and milk isles in some of the supermarkets in Inverness were bare the other day, I noticed on the local shop there was only one or two containers of milk. No doubt the shortage is down to the motorway closures in central Scotland as everything seems to come up the A9, I believe the trains were stopped also, Tesco used to ( and perhaps still does ) use containers and the rail to get stocks to Inverness.
I notice some of our milk is supplied by Grahams,Wisemans and Muller with one container from Boroughbridge.
Many years ago ( 30+) there was a Claymore Creamery in Dingwall although long closed, the one in Nairn has shut along with Twin Spires at Aberdeen, is anyone "bottling" milk in the north of Scotland or is it coming up from the central belt and no doubt going all the way to Thurso as well.
I'm sure there could be a small dairy selling bottled milk in some of the towns but I'm meaning shops in the Highlands, it just strikes me as a bit "Mad" sending it 250 odd miles.

like everything else nowadays it probably goes from where it's produced to a central processing/packing plant then sent back to where it came from. As you say it's crazy but price is all that counts to the end customer and most of the time the system works works ok. hence the demise of all the local abattoirs, dairies, butchers &etc.

Its only at times like this that a miniscule % of the population wonder (for maybe a nanosecond) if perhaps there's something been sacrificed in the rush for cheap food and high profits for the supermarkets and processing multinationals.
