Looking at the Twitter feed they started with Calley Farm, Aylesbury before changing to Calley Farm, Abingdon. Calley Farm, Aylesbury comes up on Google:cautious: and the bulling heifers made as much as the i/c heifers

They would have been VERY nice hefiers from calley farm, lovely herd of British fresians there

Went a bit wild in market yesterday and bought 8 from a consignment of 11 from a good farm. Bloody dear but my little bulk tank will be full tonight so happy days and all there milk will be on my seasonal b price.
put them through the robot yesterday evening at 9 and 5 had been in by themselves by 6am. still amazes me how quickly they take to it if they are milking well.
If your going to buy something might aswell buy something you like!!

think we have decided to buy all fresh from now on had 12 heifers calve in the last fortnight and they are fine but take longer to get used to the routine as they havnt been milked before, whereas fresh calved animals know the theory of food when they milk and do take to the robots quicker.

I was keen that they all came from the same farm. less bugs ect. My type of cows that were doing the milk and in fair nick with it too.
There are not so many about that fit the bill....... I've been a couple of times and bid half heartedly as wasn't really what i wanted and come home with nothing. Some times you just need to bite the bullet. They calved the right time and hopefully will again for next years seasonality.
When you've calved 30 of your own heifers its a bit easier to bear.

just wondering where others on here buy and sell their dairy cows? People seem to think their cows are made of gold sometimes! Others seem to get them for a pittance.
Took calves up Wednesday, went over for a quick look at the dairy cattle. And immediately thought of this thread. 50 montyx ic/in milk. Not to far from you and i, selling up because of family tragedy. Not my cup of tea, but looking at the bjp twitter feed, plenty who were interested in them.

Was hoping to make it to the sale. I know the family well. A huge loss especially after loosing the other so young.

What is calf trade like currently? I've got loads of buyers lined up but not a clue what to put them out people are saying it's gone crazy.

I've got some Devons and Angus calves hitting the deck soon. Got 2 people on FB interested in taking the lot as soon as I've got the passport. I chanced my arm and said a high price...

...both have said yes.

Calf trade is always crazy I feel anyway

How high? We were selling Devon heifers for 180 off farm when passports came back.

I'm amazed at that ! When I was in NZ 170 hefiers to train for rotrary, I really did dread it, 90% were coming in no problems within 48 hours, the 100 bought in older cows were still a pain 3 months later
