Where to buy cows

I've got some Devons and Angus calves hitting the deck soon. Got 2 people on FB interested in taking the lot as soon as I've got the passport. I chanced my arm and said a high price...

...both have said yes.

Calf trade is always crazy I feel anyway

I'm guessing blue bulls are £400+ then?

Fleck x bulls £300-£350+ at 3 weeks. Lumps of calves?

Why are you breeding your own then?
Too much beef semen used last year trying to second guess market.

TB is a major problem or can be

And only half of them would be that money other half heifers and they'd be £70-£100 less depending on the calf.

Strange with us and blues we get some awesome ones and some that just don't do that well. Putting blue on fresians were tied to selling private sale. They're smaller than that out of a Holstein so you have to sell the story behind them

Was hoping to make it to the sale. I know the family well. A huge loss especially after loosing the other so young.

What is calf trade like currently? I've got loads of buyers lined up but not a clue what to put them out people are saying it's gone crazy.
For continental bulls £250-300/ 3 weeks old. Beef heifer calves at 14 days £125-160. Someone in the NCE area is consistently getting £375+ for his lim x bulls at 4 weeks old.

Seem to have come back a good bit there at that then. Trouble with Carmarthen is it really depends on the day. I prefer private if I can get someone sensible

Don't blame you for wanting to sell privately. Have a sensible/fair figure in your head, and it's up to the buyer to take it or leave it.

I found on the ones I sent there was a bigger difference between the top and bottom than I've had before. Big bony cows were discounted. Really conditioned cows were top money. Nothing below a £1 even straight out of the parlour.
