Where will the Dutch go?

50% of the Netherlands is less than a metre above sea-level, and there is no way that global warming is going to come to a dead stop even if everyone stopped using fossil fuels today. The Dutch have made fighting the sea an art form, but they aren't going to win forever, and that will start sooner than later. With 25% of their 'land' being below sea level, any rise makes life difficult, even the smallest forecast rise will make it impossible in ever-increasing areas of their country.

So, they'll either be painting themselves into a corner, invade somewhere or just, disperse... maybe the EU will find somewhere for another New Holland, maybe countries will offer parts of themselves. Most probably the Dutch will begin to migrate, the skilled finding this easiest.

I'm sure the UK will be happy to take many; but the rest will have to go somewhere and we won't take them all. Perhaps a large country such as Australia or Canada would offer them a 'homeland' province / state, but perhaps, not.

So where, and will they manage to maintain themselves as a people, or will they just be absorbed into wherever they go?

Edit: it occurs to me that Bangladesh and many other places will be in the same situation; there are >17m Dutch, there are >160m Bangladeshis...

Aren't we taking a few million Hong Kong Chinese first? Bloody good job then that freedom of movement came to and end with leaving the EU. That was good thinking.

And Bangladeshis in need of dry land - when they ask their cousins in Bradford can they come to stay for a bit longer than a fortnights holiday?
Most are married to their own cousins anyway; but, assuming they are allowed in - which I'd not put money on - the ones who will benefit the country and that we could accommodate, welcome; the rest, enjoy your stay and then goodbye.

Let's not kid ourselves, globally immigration law is going to change greatly in the near future, and the bleeding heart / leftist types who think that any old 'asylum' claim will be entertained are going to be in for a shock.

Look at the positives, There's still vacant lots on the artificial world islands at Dubai, and china is making more islands in the south china sea all the time.

I'm sure I read somewhere that ½"/year is the sea level rise of the North Sea. That means 1 metre by the end of this century. There'll be a lot of refugees from London and Hull too.
Already happening property booming down here , being bought by London evacuees.

Same here. Covid and Working From Home evacuees buying up Fen houses - do not query the price or even bother to haggle. An agent told me that he has been asked if the price has been incorrectly entered into their website as it surely cannot be that cheap for s much house.
