Looking at swapping my 15 plate dmax for a car rather than another pick up. Will be used as a daily, towing cattle trailer and flat trailer, and going in fields abit to look my cows. Thinking possibly a discovery, anyone got any suggestions on which would be best?

I guess it will be new. If so, why not the new Defender? Or a Discovery. Ssangyong? Hyundai. Kia.

If used, Discovery, Shogun,

Anyone tried a Touareg?
IIRC Touaregs that come with a factory fitted tow bar also have a bigger radiator which could be advantageous if farmer towing ie a fully laden stock trailer rather than something considerably smaller and lighter.

Another option would be Mercedes ml or whatever the newer variant is, gle I think

Or there’s the trusty land cruiser with legendary reliability, although they don’t half come at a price, hold their second hand value far better than the two above but not even close on performance and not fantastic on legal towing capacity

I went to St Petersburg a year or so ago and saw several 'immaculate' Nivas, not customised but restored with new paintwork and upholstery. Not out the showroom as original but many thousands of roubles invested. I wanted one

Re a real vehicle, I now run a Discovery 4. Bought it two years old three years ago. Apart from slight braking wheel wobble it's a beautiful vehicle (commercial). Will tow anything.

Whats your budget?
Avoid the Shogun, they really are awful.
Consider the Range sport, its cheaper than equivilent disco 4.
Drive the XC90.
Put some decent tyres on and buy the VW Toureg....
If you intend to run through the business and pay BIK then buy a V6 Amorak...

I got to drive a number of 'motors' the winter I went red-plating.
The ford Kuga was one I liked to collect from the hire co's. They seemed a pleasant ride and Ford do a 4x4 version now. I loved the BMW X3 as well and had two days in one 'giving it some' over 300 miles. It was really good on country roads this one and round the North side of Duckville there are some lovely country roads to have fun on at 4 o'clock in the morning. The Kuga was similar but out of London there wasn't the space or time to give it stick but it felt like an ok motor. The M25 isn't the place to make or brake a vehicle.....
Subaru are old now and Audi are quite expensive but I'd like a S4 estate......I had a S4 saloon for a WE and it was lovely and f a s t.

I read a bit about towing but life is too short to tow all the time and there's nothing like a motor that can put a grin on a grumpy farmers face than one that tows AND is fun to drive when not towing...

Other than this you could put the request in 'Which pick up should I buy' and how boring would that be...... :ROFLMAO:
